the safe arrival overseas of her husband congratulations to harry williams who on sept 7th was winged and commissioned as a pilot officer na vigator at no 8 ajos st johns quebec it was an eventful day for harry for he was married the same day to the former margaret peggy maclaren georgetown back in town after spending a week in port dalhou- sie pilot officer williams is going to calgary no 2 aircrew graduate training school for a couple of months and then to no 1 central na vlgation school for an instructors course pte j w hemphill has sent home an interesting collection of picture post cards from rome showing views the coliseum st peters the na tional boulevard etc in italy for the last year with a hospital unit pte hemphill joined the army in may 1941 after training in toronto niagara and camp borden he went overseas in october 1941 and was in england until transferred to italy mrs hemp hill and the children viola and betty are living on main street georgetown one of our new overseas subscribers to the herald is sgt edgar beeney who has been overseas since may of this year son of mr and mrs e beeney of umehouse he was a popu lar student at georgetown high school before enlisting ur- the rcaf he trained at ouelph flngal and lachine as a wireless air gunner ed gar was bom in france of which coun try his mother is a native his rather was a sergeant with the canadian army in the last war and met his mo ther when the canadian troops were in the calais area of france he came out to canada with his parents when he was five months old he was back in prance for a visit three years later and since going overseas has flown over his mothers old home at pas de calais an area which has since been liberated by theauie rally day at united church it was rally day at the united church sunday sept 17th the sun day school attended the morning ser vice and were addressed by judge v l stewart of the toronto juvenile court who spoke to them on the responsibilities of childhood speci al music was furnished by the orches tra and members of the sunday school before a large audience in the sun day school room sunday evening judge stewart spoke on the in alienable rights of childhood he said that while juvenile delinquency had decreased during the past year the type of delinquency had grown worse most of it he declared was due to parents who evade their re- sponsibilties and deny children cer tain rights which are inalienably theirs he particularly scored par ents who expect their children to obey the rules of society but break them in with her parents mr and mrs kllcam and family mrs k ream has arrived home from the general hospital and is getting the use of her eye again we all hope that she will soon be able to have the use of her sight again as usual mr r j stringer spent the week end with mr norman vlggers of glen williams and also attended the memorial services in the anglican church on sunday morning and re ports a very impressive service i a number of our citizens took in the fair at georgetown on saturday and all report a very successful show corn cutting will soon be the gen eral order of tbe day mr and mrs danbrook who spent the summer here have moved to their new home at toronto we are sorry to lose such kind and estimable citi zens from ourmidst but our loss will be torontos gain we understand that mr g rogers of the 10th line has disposed of his 200acre farm on the 10th line mr fred johnston the wellknown um ber man was the purchaser we wish him continued success it is rumoured that there is rose marie robinson who was a patient in ouelph general hospital last week was able to return to her home on saturday evening a large gathering of relatives and sympathizing friends were present at st albans church on sunday morn ing when the venerable w q o thompson conducted a memorial- ser vice for the late pte stanley dicken son who was killed in france aug 28th beautiful flowers were placed in the church by his boy friends beau mont knitting mills the juvenile or ange lodge the loyal orange lodge and the loyal true blue lodge the employees of beaumont mills attend ed the service in a body are fighting the costliest of wars nd that every dollar of the cost of our war effort is being financed in janada everyone is enjoying a decent standard of living and no one is i want the proof of-
