hearts made heavy by these anxious times special music and lovely flowers added to the beau ty of the servtoes at st georges anglican church the easter sunday services were pre ceded by a three hour service good friday afternoon on sunday morn ing the choir sang maunders o death where is thy sting mrs thomas bason taking the solo and in dhe evening mr thos eason jr took tlie solo part in the anthem the strife is oer the easter sunday services at the untied church were also preceded by a good friday service in the morning the setuor choir was assisted at both services by the junior choir tins joyful eastertide the senior oholr anthem was what are these which are arrayed in white robes the easter service at knox presby terian ohurch was also well attended with a good many visitors present miss marlon hepburn was soloist sing ing the lovely the holy oity by morning was the anthem by the choir at holy cross rc church baster services were held both on good fri day and easter sunday rev fr v j morgan conducted the services assist ed by the choir the easter services at the baptist church were marked by spirit of hnte and joy as the congregation were re minded by the messages both in word and song of the deep significance of baster for the christian tn the a sacred cantata by maunder olivet to calvary was rendered by the combined choirs of georgetown united georgetown baptist knox presbyterian and st george s angll- churches on thursday evening march 29th in th-t- united church as the fourth of the community holy week services the church was croncted to capacity to hear this beau- ttfu nmsic so splendidly presented under the conductor miss lynda ste wart atcjm mr kenneth haixi son was organist and miss margaret cook pianist the presentation opened with pray ers by archdeacon woo thomp son and a hymn by congregation and choir beneath the cross of jesus the cantata recalled simply and re verently the scenes which marked tde last few days of the saviours life on earth the rejoicing of the multitudes with hosannas and palms the view of jerusalem from ttie steep of olivet the lameit over the beautiful city the scene in the temple and the lonely walk back over the mount at night formed the chief features of the first part part 11 opened with the supper of the passover at which jesus washes his disciples feet and gives to his friends the new commandment of love for one another as the sign of true dlsdpleship from this the scene passes to ttie infinite pathos of the garden of qethsemane the sudden appearance of the hostile crowd jesus forsaken by his disciples his utter loneliness among ruthless foes the tumult before pilate in the judgment hall the passage of the cross the tragedy and triumph of calvary the solo parts were
