spectators as best yet light horse show one of the finest in ontario excellent horse races hall exhibit outstanding dance attracts large crowd the weatherman smiled on george husking corn display filled in town pair last friday said saturday ero wha vegetables and flows and as a result the 1845 show was j tnere were on display were of a bleb acclaimed by many as being the best yet both exhibitors and fairgoers j jey g tandy best something were drawn from a wide radius over ontario and an estimated attendance of 4600 neople passed through the gates the success of the show was in no small way due to the eoqueslng agricultural societys energetic young president orals held and his board of atreqjors who spared no time or ef fort to give georgetown a fair that ipf ottawa was wellworth viewing the town could well be proud of it was one of the hottest fairs that the writer can remember attending with the thermometer standing at 86 degrees while the livestock entry was very gratifying it would have been much larger bad the weather been not quite so warm three pigs were cas ualties in the bacon hog class due to the extreme beat and we understand some valuable chickens also succumb- quallty with the first prise squash by out of the ordinary local merchants purchased apace in the hall this year and booths by ric hardson s hardware harold c kc- clure and dck riddall rawleigh products were very attractive the dominion government booth under the supervisior of mr f c nunnlck and the information given farmers cry timely ladies work was on the increase while the baking class still failed to draw much interest by local domestic the dressed fowl specials were all fill ed of interest too were the exhibits of the georgetown llmehouse and dublin institutes and the aahgrove girls club oldest person attending the fair ti register with the secretary was mr henry wilson of aahgrove who is 83 mr wilson has been an ardent sup porter of the fair all his life many georgetown old boys and girls were noticed on the grounds in fact it look ed like on old boys reunion in many respects the georgetown girls pipe band came in for considerable comment on the fair grounds were never more beautiful than they were this year and the track was in excellent shape nd was also treated for the dual nuisance just before the fair the new fence erected along the track drew many fine comments and president reld in his remarks over the amplifying sys tem congratulated the town fathers on their interest m the park oils year their fine appearance and music as it goes
