might be in or der td write a line or so about that other great game lacrosse luacrosse la supposed to be canada s national game but judging by the number of teams across the dominion that play the game it might be difficult to prove that the game ten t as popular by far as it was at one tune there is hopes of it maklrg a come back though strange as it may sound tiiere is more lacrosse played in england now than there is in our own dominion even the girls go in for the game over there and it seems to go over big a la crosse stick factory down in corn wall ship sticks all over the world quite a number af canadian soldiers that never took any interest in the e here at home have played it in england and when they return may help to reintroduce the game as a youngster we dldnt know that there was any other game besides lacrosse that may account lor our love for the game to this day and al so account lor the fact that we often mention the game in our writings we often hear it mentioned as being a rough game bowemor it might be dtf- fiouu to prove that point it is not nearly as rough as hockey although it does look to be rougher than it really seldom do we ever hear oi anyone getting seriously hurt playing the gome and unlike hockey we never hear of any bones being broken in fact we are unable to recall any one ever getting really seriously hurt play ing lacrosse another point to its favor is the ease witb which a person that never saw the game before can understand it there are no offsides nor any oompuoatad rulings that baf fle the uninformed at all and we have often taken friends to see their first game only to find that they had be come lacrosse fans before the game waa fire minutes old originally lacrosse was an outdoor game but along about 1934 it moved indoors and become what is known as box lacrosse it is played in skating rinks and may be the answer to the serious difficulty of rr skating rinks prove profitable in the smaller towns in other words it makes the skating rink an all year round enter tainment center rather than jus ft a few months during cold weather whether canadian girls take to the game or not remains to be seen bat we are unable to see why not itiey play softhall and often prove to bs more popular with the fans than do the boys team and we are sore that it they played lacrosse it would be the same story perhaps when those boys all get home from overseas decide to reintroduce the ctame back home we rather hope that they do the georgetown herald wednes december 19 1945 w3to jfs8b jnr t varied lire of nuts walnuts pecans almonds
