features horse show will draw exhibitors and spectators for many miles it s bard to know just where to start enumerating the many features which georgetown lions crub has planned to make the dominion day weekend a lively one for georgetown there is omethlng for everyone young and id and no expense has been spared to it the biggest celebration ever held ih georgetown to start it off on saturday will be m horse show in the park and ad vance entries promise a large showing of heavy draft and wagon horses eight road teams and eight carriage teams are expected there will be special road classes for saddle horses it is the first horse show ever held in georgetown to our knowledge and chairman bob caldwell secretary gar field mcgllvray and ken mcmillan have everything in shape for a smooth running show tory gregg wingham radio man who has announced the last two fail fairs here is showmaster and over 600 in prize money is offer ed in the 23 classes saturday night the dancing crowd takes over with a street dance on mill street just off main chairman art scott has secured the popular curly smith orchestra from brampton for modern and old tyme dancing on sunday afternoon at 3 pjn a community religious service will be held in the park this will be in char ge of ven w g o thompson and the lome scots band will be in attendance and will present a band concert in conjunction with the aenfoa monday s holiday snow starts early at 10 am when a stellar weston mid get team stacks up against the george town pirates at 2 pja a parade of floats decorated cars and bicycles led by the brampton kiltie band will move from the old town hall to the park afternoon features at the park include a softball tournament between teams from norval glen williams milton and georgetown and a number of race events clarence benham and ab tost are in charge of these features incidentally there are good prizes all along the way with 20 15 and 10 offered for the best floats 5 3 and 42 for decorated bicycles and 5 for the best comic costume bingo convened by art johnson will be played both on saturday and mon day and there will be several games as wel as refreshment booths a nov elty among these will be a watermelon booth the monster garden party on mon day night is just that probably the best show to ever hit town ray whit- ntee given 225 to put on the show has secured the jessie mcgregor con cert company front hamilton and the troupe numbers an even dozen top- notch entertainers miss mcgregor is coming along herself as pianist and director and among the star acts are alice of the activities of the 72nd general assembly of the presby wiian church in canada given by the minister the rev chas cochrane who was a commissioner mr cochrane told the congregation that the tone of the meetings and the level of debate was very hifch and that a fiesh approach to the problems of the church was evident the pres byterian communion will continue its connection with the church of forgotten by those whom lt honored and one of the most successful events r staged in the district teen town haul opens wednesday wednesday night july 3 marks the opening of a new phase in teenage activities in georgetown when teen town hall has its official opening the members have been working hard to renovate the auditorium of the old town hall in preparation and while there is stil much
