wednesday evening july 24th 1946 friday storm damage is extensive in town and district a rain and windstorm last friday bout 5 pm did considerable damage around georgetown and district the storm was one oi the worst for some time and was accompanied by hall thunder and lightning hydro power was toterruplwi and falling trees dis rupted rural telephone service with aonie lines still not in operation property damage around town m- j eluded dick- graces house on the nor thern outskirts ol town where an up- rooted maple tree damaged a comer o the verandah and the garage was flfblown down the garage root was car- 4ed to erwlns held and the door was utown over the erwin house and lodged in a gulley at the back at the high school the bicycle rack vas wrecked and jack tosts garage behind the school was blown on top of westons bread house several trees on the high school grounds and on victor kings property across the street were uprooted windows in mrs george davis home were broken the wellington willett family took to the cellar when their chimney was blown down but not before one slight casualty occurred when a flying brick struck a member of the family the kitchen was badly damaged a garage on the property was also a casualty a large tree on frank sykes property on market street fell on a corner of he house and damaged part of the roof the storm was particularly heavy
