highlights of the after noon was the presentation of a life membership pin and certificate to mrs smethurst a charter member by mrs mitchell and mrs klrkpatrick mrs clarence hayes was given the honour of calling mrs smethurst to the platform and was first to congra tulate her and the branch a period of silence was observed in memory of former members who had passed on and a verse of blest be the week esquesinj native pioneer family member john r scott dies a wellknown resident of the lime- bouse district and resident of george town for the past tour months john robert scott passed away in toronto general hospital on sunday august 18 following an operation mr scott had been ul for the past two months he was the son of the late wlhiam scott and rachel arthurs and was born 69 sears ago on the family farm at lot 23 concession 6 on which he lived until his retirement the soon homestead was in the family over 100 years until sold to mr k mulder last fall mr scott was a faithful member of the presbyterian ohurch being a mem ber of llmehouse ohurch all his life where he had served as an elder fot many years in 1904 he was married at the manse in georgetown by rev cameron to elizabeth hall mr scott is survived by his wife and five children mrs william shelboume birdie llmehouse mrs wm nor rie hazel toronto arthur george town mrs sid mills irene terra cotta and harold glen williams
