neighbours oltoions we are afraid that editor dills of the acton free press and milton champion is fighting a losing battle in his efforts to convince any sizeable majority of peo ple that the high school district in north hetrton is fea sible the recent high school board council meet ing in acton approved the generalplan but made no specific commitments a similar meeting in milton hed ged by wishing to seek further information esquesing as we know turned it down and georgetown very strongly expressed their feelings- by saying they were in favour only if the school would be located here however we admire the acton editors spirit in captaining his sinking ship and reprint ilia editorial comments from the december 24th issues of the free press and champion the high school district in north halton is quite a live topic these days and although we do not propose to make it a weekly editorial topic the present trend does seem to merit some comment as we have intimated in former comment our in formation and study of the question has made the pro posal favorable to us thats only our opinion but we do think the proposal is worth the study and thought of all interested in the education of our young people if after that study of the question others do not come to the same conclusion we have no fault to find with their opinion perhaps the developments of the past week have altered the north halton district georgetown school board and council have according to a report in the herald taken a stand of unalterable opposition unless the achool is located in georgetown esquesing council defeated a motion by a vote of 3 to 2 to give approval of the district milton council and school board seek more information and acton council and school board approve the general plan and judging from the acton meeting residents of nassagaweya would welcome any improved arrangement- for the children to secure secon dary education it woud now appear that continuance of the talks for the district would therefore not include george town we believe that it must be a cooperative district and we have always believed that cooperation to be ef fective must be practised by all parties it would there fore seem that one in the group with unalterable op position would not make a cooperative district feasible we have no fault to find with such a decision as we see it the unalterable decision of one member of the district need not interfere with further study of the proposal by other members of the district the boundaries need only be changed and the munici palities if so desirbus can form whatever district is fea sible all the communities in the district are growing rapidly however and certainly some steps must be ta ken to give more accommodation for pupils desirous of securing secondary school education we believe the school district is the answer but we have no desire to force our opinion upon any individual or group it might le that others have a better plan and if so our columns are open to have it presented to the peo ple we would be interested ourselves in hearing about it our connection with school matters over several years has however not given us a better suggestion and shown the present arrangements inadequate we are of the opinion that the department of education has put it forward as their best solution we think they have given it some study and we feel repre sentatives of the department have presented it clearly and fairly wanted water for 14 uviitocidpitooraiixtodiiok a supply of good drinking waterfor farm animals in winter is just as important as in summer and requires mora care on the part of the farmer if the liveator are to do well it is poor business says the dominion department of asrtcul- turo to skimp on the drinking water supply in winter weather as theanimma are often entirely at the mercy of the farmer in this respect which jsnot much the cam in the summer is wintertime milk cows ehould not be
