attention to the lack of foreiievht in erecting stop aigni at highway inter sections i he scene of this accident was at the point where the rocltwoodfergufcnruun road crosses no 24 highway we are quite familiar with this road using it to avoid going throuch guclph on trips to lake huron and bruce countv each turn it has occurred to us that the stop sign on the i ergus road place rj as it is smack against the highway is relatively useless to the stranger and constitiiti s a serious mi irace to safety i laving missid the sign on one oeca ion md crossed no 24 without stopping we are always on the alert for it and on the day in question win lc i ping a sharp watch tor it when we notiie d a numbir of e irs and arrived on the scene just after the tragi d although unfamiliar with dt tails of tin aici dent we would judge- that the aeton car proceeding towards fergus did just what dozens oi otlu rs lint done arrived at the highway and found it impossible to stop when the sign was notictd adeem li pi u mg ef stop signs are parking restrictions necessary ever since the twoliour parking re striction on mam street was imposed earlier this year we have wondered if georgetown is big enough to warrant such a measure and whether we are not imposing a needless restriction on shoppers true our main street is short and there is not always room to park but under the old system we have never heard any complaints otlier than that merchants took up too much room themselves by parking their own cars on mam street instead of on side streets this in fact is the only improvement which has been noticed since the restriction was imposed and we think an occasional reminder by the board of trade would accomplish as much and leave a better feeling among shoppers and visitors even this has been side stepped by several merchants who make it a point to move their cars every hour or so to mother location on main street so that they are within the law but out side the spirit of it a farmer who was nickeel a dollar recently was bitter about the fact that although he had exceeded the parking limit there was pie nty ef room on the street that day and he could not see why he should park a block or two away for no re ason i arm crs bring business to town and as the ir trips ue not toe frequent they usually are here for a consult rahle time and it would be good business to keep goeul eustomi tax i eduction on new automobiles will be taken care of by price increases and that the purchaser of a new car can expect to pay about the same as the previous price i he car business has become very mystetrious with dealers themselves not knowing the price of a new model at certain times and used new cars selling on city lota for several hundred dollars above dealers prices wondeir if they will
