his golden gate cafe to fred lee who came here from port hope sammie who was in town the other day renewing old acquaintances now oper ates the hollywood cafe in simcoe next door stan grabb is planning an official opening early in the new year for his greatlyenlarged georgetown furniture sales an addition has been built on the back which will more than triple the floor space further down the street roy magloughlen sold his billiard room and barber shop to harold jhutch 1 lutchmson who with his wife and family is occupying the apartment above hutch operated the shop for a time with bob joined georgetowns hockey team two new buildings made their appear ance on this side of the street cordaro candies oper ated by mr and mrs john cordaro and stew simp sons taxi stand at the rear of the georgetown dairy building gordon knight an english immigrant op ened the georgetown laundry and the emmerson brothers johnny and jim established their tool and die business which they purchased from bill hiller the old waterworks building across the street had a facelifting and with a considerable addition be came the new municipal building early in the spring it houses the provincial police theatre we find ernie craw ford the new manager taking over from jack polly who is now employed with smith stone in his- home up the hill from the maple leaf dairy jack bal- lantine has opened a shoe repair shop farther down john street gord harley has opened his new garage which he calls harley motors another change in the garage picture saw the opening of a fine new building by art scott on the site o the old ba service station scott motor sales be came the local general motors representatives and moved to this location from their former spot at the top of main street the ford and monarch dealers cecil hardie and lome peters who operate as geor getown motors meanwhile purchased that building and now have a corner on that end of the highway jlaing both their old and new buildings and so
