webba liome and business was destroyed by fire ah of thfcac lovely wad ding sifts were lost how come you never say any thing a bout our corner of the town said sara valker the other ttay the point i it hover seems necessary judging by the traffic on a saturday sam and the boys are kept pretty busy it would be a good idea in my opinion t6 get p few people like sam walker on the recreational councu in the old days whon sam was at the arena i think he bad the confi dence and respect of almost every youngster in town sam had a fin ger in almost every pic in town nnd was certainly well liked by the youngsters something else i would like lo know where is tim staccy these days with his ability to handle boys and the personality he has he should be one of the men to help with georgetown a recreation these arc the men we know sin cerely like children judging irom past successes they have had these are tlie type of men wc know arc good for our children s minds it wont do a particle of good having someone look after the younger- generation wlio would be interes ted solely in tlie financial end of it there has to be a keen inter est the present committee ii hav ing a difficult time finding out just what tlie public wants to do about the situation anyone is free and welcome to call these people and express uieir opinion perhaps if this is done there will not be so much criticism afterword what wc should realize is that these people give of their time and talent to our children and we could show our appreciation by cooperating in any way wc can ted maccormack has given a lot of time to many i organizations not to mention the other members of the grc who have worked hard to put nutation across where is bill marshall we all had a great deal of respect for him these men are getting along in jtar but we uould hkt to see them come out and offer sugges tions they all had many jcirs experience with youngsters it is n well known fact that geor getown is practieall a crime free town and the credit not to its sportsmen while the kiddies are watching a hockey game the ire not getting into mischief harold hall has left for sault ste marie where he plans to n ikt his home january the twentieth it was an interesting mteting weyl organizl and definittly tn- lightening while the attendance was jrati fying it is unfortunate all of geor getown was not there for it was clearly shown that a recreational programme in jny community be longs to every member of the community most of us have lab oured under the delusion such a programme concerned only a few incidentally placing these hapless few directly in the line of fire from our big guns of criticism the impression thayn recreation al programme is oftc vast play ground or nursery where mom or pop can dump junior is false one indeed the meeting showed u4 such a programme would neces sitate a large staff of trained sup ervisors this elaborate undertak ing is not necessary in a town the sle of georgetown the members of the town can handle a slmpic programme of sports and varlouj activities if everyone men women and children pull together to make it a success the meeting proved there are a lot of enthusiastic pub lic spirited citizens who want to try twenty five volunteers have formed a committee towards that goul this is o good beginning a healthy sign that given a chance every talented interested member of this community wants and will bfcvu a hand in the formation and ultimate success of a venture which should prove beneficial to alt pierrette c lewis it seems to mej by jay bird do
