drying up of streams which formerly fed the reservoir up to now an auxiliary supply has been available back of james street from which water is pumped to the upper reservoir when it is needed and it is this supplywhich is now letting the town down for some reason it is just not producing sufficient quantities and after two or three hours of pumping there is nothing left until another day also according to the water chairman arthur herbert the water which is being pumped from this source is scarcely fit for human consumption an earnest plea is made to every housewife and to each businessman to use just as little water as pos sible until the new system is in operation when there will be water to spare council is instructing the en gineer to speed the work on the new pumphouse so that it will get going just as soon as possible for not only must citizens be inconvenienced by the shortage but is costing dollars to the taxpayers as the arena cannot be opened until more water is available for the ice system and outside rentals must be turned down until that time pot pourr1 poppy day this year will be on november 5th the saturday previous to remembrance day it is a temptation to drive
