last sunday but having learned our lesson once when we attempted to penetrate a traffic jam past bur lington which beat all traffic jams weve ever seen t never again on a svriday blossoms or no blossoms the time to make the trip is dur- jng the week and that for us as for most people is easier said than done howeyer if the weather doesnt warm up too fast we may get to see them yet yes peach blossoms or any fruit trees- in bloorrf present bul one of naturesglorious vistas an other equally beautiful but entirely dipferervt vista is photographed in natural colours oft a postcard sent us by miss annie ryan from la joilasan diego and miss ryan assures us jthat the colourful photo showing the deep blue of the pac- tfic outmatching even the blue of the sky overhead is no exaggera tion with the surf pounding against picturesque rock formations con trasting with the whiteness of sand beaches it does present an entic ing picture miss ryan just return ed from a 10week vacation in cal ifornia thoroughly enjoyed her trip and judging from the scenery in that southern vacationland we can only add small wonder scenes of her homeland familiar to mrs bert hill when she left scotland thir tynine years ago will hold beauty tinged with nostalgia when she visits there later this month mrs hill who sails aboard the as- caniu from montreal on the 22nd of may will stay with her sister mrs clobe fc mail if you do youll probably recall her article in lasi thursdays paper about ha by linda patterson out standing infant daughter if mrs alfred patterson toronto hut you probably wouldnt lie aware that mrs patterson is the foiuur ethel canton of geortctown and sister of mrs staii allen for this reason youll doubtless find it doubly in teresting to hear about her remark able baby little lynda when born 2 months prematurely on march 16th weighed only 2 pounds five ounces and there were two especially important factors about this little mite of humanity that made her a very sxeiiil premature first of all was her amazing vit ality under such circumstances the babeinincubator is left undistur bed as much as is feasible hut lynda did not follow the usual pat tern and by the third day she op ened her eyes and was suirmuig over on her back a fe pr unheard of under the circumstances and now that lynda is home a bright alert five-pound-four-oun- cer mrs patterson has established something of a triumph of matern ity over fact in that she is able to nurse her child after all these weeks of separation when lynda was arti ficially fed this is probably attri butable to mrs pattersons determ ination and certainty that this child the second after one she has lost woufsiie and flourish in a recent housing move on churchill crescent mr and mrs eddie staplcton have mo ved
