passed the 3rd day of july 1931 george currie reeve i m bennett clerk i notice corporation of the township of esquesjlng take notice that the above is a true copy of a bylaw passed by the council of the township of es- the branch is a bit deserted these days with the first of the hol idays starting and a number of the comrades away on their vacations however the real exodus does not start for the branch until ss holi days start in two weeks sorry to hear that our old friend comrade tom allen was taken to hospital last friday night werwish him a safe and speedy re covery r in answer to our many en quiring about o pro j n park and playground we are afraid that the project has bad it for this summer due to the shortages ojl on the 3 day of jul 1931 and all persons are required to take notice that any one who de sires to apply to have the bylaw or any part thereof quashed must serve notice of his application upon the bead of clerk of tnis municipal ity within 20 days after the date of the last publication of this notice and must make his application to the supreme court of ontario with in one month after the said date this notice was first published on the 11th day of july 1951 and the last publication will be on the 25th day of july 1951 728 i m bennett clerk materials delivery on playground equipment is very slow and on top of this a suitable location hasnt beerr found the majority of the committee and members seemed to favour a central location where it could be turned into a park as well with trees planted and seats where women could stop and rest or leave their children while going shopping with this in mind the lions club had been approached as to the pos sibility of purchasing their mill street property for this purpose the lions however feel that they would like to retain the lot and use it for a project similar to the one we have in mhid and as far as we are concerned thats great because it doesn t matter who does it so long as it gets done so branch 120 wishes trie lions every success in their project well july 12th has come and gone around the branch without any undue excitement and the writers thanks to all those who helped out that day and we might say that oui holidays are in full swing too so that arfrmnfs for the small column of the maple unit that in the first six months of 1990 over 18000 cows have been bred by the maple unit a next couple of weeks if you hae any news to be put in the herald oncerning th branch leave it with the editor and he ii see its published incidentally a nunber of the members have asked to get var ious information for them from the legion h q so while we think we have it all written down to avoid any mistakes anyone wishing us to see about anything for them at pro vincial command remind us of it before the end of the week as we intend to go there early next week t among others who will be attending the originals club reunion are bill roney and cliff stacey the reunion will be in toronto and we imagine it will be a bangup affair the reason for the new look to our television is partly due to a new aerial and other adjustments as everyone knows the operation of the set has not been too efficient especially of late however a week ago a television specialist happened to be in doing some repair work and the dealer who wild us the set jim qoodlet sent him to us he explained that the aerial had been put up on the understanding that the set was going to be placed in the large beverage room where it was for a short jjme h i rolling around and will be held in cornwall on august 2021 22nd as it was decided at the last general meeting that no one was going to represent branch 120 we don t know of anyone from town ho will be going with the possible exception of dutch mccartney who may be going as a none representative but as yet we dont know if it is defin ite here is some infoi mation foi any pensioner who was a little per turbed about the notice on a slip of paper that accompanied their last pension checks it said that periodically life certificates had to be filled in and returned or pension was liable to be discontinued or words to that effect wc had i great many requests as to what this meant by pensioners who had nev er heasdof this before however according to the department it onl means that in the next couple of months a pajki will l sent out ti each pensioner with his pension check which he will have- to mum and return prov1nciai command his also promised to send us a eopy of the new legislation just passed that will provide for a supplement to the pensions received by those r- ceiving 45 per cent pension single and 3s per cent married so v hen we receive this information w ii print the important parts in this column and leave the entire report in the legion hall for you to read incidentally we could i ec ommend that more people should take the odd few minutes and go through the various correspondence hanging below the bulletin board it seems to us that the vast major ity of the members hesitate te u and pick up one of these files to read thats what they are thi for and also we might add anyone wishing to sex the auditors leport only has to ask the stewarri foi it its typewritten anel eertiflcd is correct by the auditors the same firm of chartered accountants vv lie audit the town books and w in recommend it to any membe i as aerial also necsesitated about 60 extra feet of cable lead which cut down the signal even further and was one of the main causes of the snow the expert claimed that by hoisting the aerial twenty feet and moving it over further on the roof to line up with the set he could increase the efficiency of the set by about 70 per cent he also claimed he could pretty well eliminate the interfer ence caused by certain older cars we authorized the changes and so far the set has lived up to all his claims the picture is certainly as clear as you could wish with little or no snow and so far there does seem far less interference the steward sol dowhurst is on his annual twoweek vacation this week with george alcott tak ing his place for a couple of weeks the other member of the legion staff jim blair
