our column in the issue of the firsl week in may we made some observations based on a visit to ii field which had been seeded in f a good catch of seeds wai secured on this particular 24acre fielri owing tr the scarcity of pasture in th laic summer the owner of necessity pastured ih acres of the field but fenced olt f acres adjoining the bush follow ing our visit to the field in lae april we repotted there is still a vgood stand in lxth sections of the fielri but there is an almost unbe lievable difference in the vigor and gin th of the two sections we fllsto staled in the same arlirjv juting by present appearance wr would expect quite a difference in the yields of hay off the wo sections of the same field thanks to the farm owner we are now able to present the final story the two sections were baled separately on the ibacre section which was pas tured he got a toal of ifill hales while on the incre section unpas- tured there was a total of i2li balis assuming that the bales averaged fifty pounds each this works out ii yirld of three quarters of a ton per acre from the pastured acre against 2 tns per acre off i he iiupnt- turid area we would remind out readers that this story comes trom two sections of the same field bolh sown at the same time vsxilh the same seed mixture and with the same amount of- commercial fertilizer true the six acre sec tion was cut ten days later but in other respects the only difference in so far as wo are aware is the 18 acres was pastured while trie 6 v acres was hot it should be un- j naessay to point out the moral to tfels true
