y the georgetown herald first section georgetown ontario wednesday dec 19th 1951 first section christma seal fund exceeds 500 today the christmas seal campaign un dertaken by the newlyformed hal ton tuberculosis and health assoc iation is meeting with marked suc cess in ge district some weeks ago letters contain ing a supply of christmas seals and a request to send along 200 or as much more as the kindness of your heart will allow were sent to all residents of the county the re sponse to date has been most grati fying and a total of 530 has been recorded tat the bank of commerce which acnasa receiving agent for the fund in town- it will be open dor another week or two and those who have not already sent a don ation are asked do so as soon as possible tuberculosis work in halton was first begun by oakville lions club sparked by such members as the late stan otton who was at one time bank of montreal accountant here this year a county organiza tion was formed to carry on this work an ambitious program has been planned for 1952 besides the main tenance and extension of clinics and promotion of preemployment x- rays plus rehabilitation work among patients and those discharged from sanitoriums the association is plan ning a mass xray survey in which mobile equipment will visit every corner of halton funds raised in the christmas seal campaign are the only means of financing this work and the more that is raised the more work can be done what council did met in final session for 1951 and after receiving a petition from local merchants declared wednes day december 20th a
