christmas tree at tlio legion last thursday night wo dont think we have ever seen a bigger attendance and this on one of the worst nights of the year we felt awfully sorry for the large number ot people who had to wait hours for n taxi home many of them with their little children however there jusf dfidnt seem to be enough cabs to go around that night however everyone seemed to enjoy themselves bill roney and wife certainly did themselves proud this year with all the arrangements being in top shape each year they spend an aw ful lot of time arranging things and certainly can he very proud of thei efforts the whole show was very well run by mi and mrs roney and mrs albert henney also helped out the hardest job of the evening was santa claus wjwrtcally did a fine job too mjf santas putting on a bit of weight these days isnt he we wonder now his voice managed to hold out qecause the writer him- self started to lose his after about the first 200 and had to call on our old friend harry hale to help out there only being one santa of course he had to greet everyone ind we sure think he did a wonder ful job when you think he was at it from 700 oclock till 945 and where all the kids come from well never know if the branch goes on growing at its present rate we wonder how well get all the children under one roof however that day will still quite a way in the future we got a kick out of jim blair trying to gcdlrnough chairs for ev- tryone he was pulling out all the old benches hchad plus the folding chairs from the clonk room down be- low and then he almost ran out the lucky ijhaw was held after the presents were given out with 1st prize going to a young lady in ornngcvllle the second to brampton and third to earl wil cox georgetowns only winner and a member of the branch the prizes were 1st 75 2nd 50 and 3rd 25 evcryone all set for the big new years eve social evening and dance we think this should be a real smash hit after last years fine party and we hope to see every member present it wil start at approximately ten oclock there will be dancing and entertainment and a buffet lunch will the served the number of christinas cards received at the branch was cer tainly surprjslng in fact we had a hard time finding room for them all nice to know that the various people we deal with remember us at christmas time there also were a number from individuals as well mw fag m it is our wish that j 952 may hold the most generous por tions of health happiness and prosperity for ad saxemotors i mr duckworth who was born in fergus in 1881 first entered pol itics
