meeting held at st pauls united church milton on may 7th a large turnout of mem bcrs and interested people from all parts of the county gathered to en dorse the work and hoor the guest speaker mr clare vlnnels director of the hamilton children s aid society branch and the report of g p thompson superintendent of the county branch in his interesting report mr thompson sold he was very happy to report there had fceen very few casce of cruelty to a child but while many other problems had cdmc to his attention they were chiefly moral ones which could bo blamed partially to the high cost of living he further stated his office was swamped with applications for ad option many young married coup lea have become quite adoption conscious but are surprised when they find they arc unable to klrkness acton declared we want to reach these children in their own homes before it reaches thcstage wheye they hove to he removed from them r we an alto endeavouring to put jnorv emtaiu- on ourewit work ai najjfaj manner the work that has been ac complished through difficult times experienced by some families ho also emphasized the success exper ienced by the society in connec tion with foster homes establish ment of these foster homes has been gratifying especially in the envir onment shown as over placing a child in a shelter mrs m j brown thanked tho speaker for his interesting address warden j m wkkson expressed his appreciation for the work ac complished by the halton branch and commended the personnel he also suggested the population of the county would be doubled within a short time thus increasing tho work of the entire group several musical numbers were sung by the male quartette of knox presbyterian church and two de lightful solos were sung by mrs murray hall of
