were appointed rector s wardens by archdeacon w g q thompson st georges had ohe of its most outstanding years in history with the celebration of centennial year which brought several former rec tors old leader in junior farmer work has been elected president of the acton fall fair board mac sprowl fourth gen eration member of an acton dis trict family is the youngest presi dent in the 40year history of the annual halton county farm show although official statistics as to ages have never been kept it is believed possible that mac mar also be the youngest fair president in ontario another comparatively young man holding doym a respon sible position with the board is 21year old ray everdell a former junior farmer and champion cattle exhibitor who was appointed 2nd judging teams of a large rural show in 1948 when he was named an associate director the following four years he served as a director in charge of various committees including the dairy cattle beef cattle junior grain clubs and field crop exhibits mac began his active community life early at the age of nine he placed first in a public speaking contest conducted at the school fair as a youngster he took part in many singing and piano competi tions at district musi ft an amateur entertainer he donned kilts and travelled extensively in the years 1936 1937 and 1938 to sing in local churches and halls he graduated from acton high school in 1945 and took up farm ing on the family homestead just east of acton in 1947 he joined the junior farmers an organization in which he has been active ever since he was secretary for the acton juniors in 1949 president for a year and a half and in 1952 gained his present post as president of the junior farmer clubs of hal ton county good judge he won the thomas entitling him to a 500mile bus trip through the eastern united states as a member of the halton coiin ty judging team at the royal win ter fair in 1951 he helped his mates place third among 30 coun lies he also judged at the cne in 1851 and 1952 for the past year he has been junior farmer club director from esquesing township to the halton federation of agric ulture and assistant club leader of the 4h acton tractor maintenance 4ub this year he was the first coun ty president of the halton junior farmers to conduct their annual church service he was chairman of the junior farmer section at milton fair last fall a sports enthusiast too mac is convener for the halton junior farmer hockey series which is in full swing at the milton arena each week this w inter he plays with the acton junior farmers hockey team and is fond of soflbball his musical talents won him a place in the halton junior fanners choir which went to woodstock he lik es to play the piano and square from bishop
