stevens report at the meeting is as follows during the year 195253 the committee held six regular meet ings as a result of these organi zational meetings the following ac tivities were processed and exped ited a a highly successful county- wide cheat x ray survey was con ducted in conjunction with the on tario department of health the results of this very major effort may be tabled as follows x ray survey 1952 total number xrayed 1 7 549 no evidence of disease or abnorm ality 16 997 or 96 5 per cent pul monary tuberculosis 24 or 13 per cent pulmonary tuberculosis sus pects 5 or 03 per cent other dis ease and abnormalities 524 or 3 0 per cent these include evidence of prev ious pleurisy 76 abnormal heart shadows 65 tumors b active pulmonary tuberculosis 8 or 04 per cent fr rom oikville 1 a tremendous success and it is quite natural that our association is recognized as the leading association in the prov ince 1953 plans since the associations financial position is now on a sound and equitable basis the activities of the association can be expanded con siderably during the coming year tentative plans for the associa tion require that organizational and functional activities be expanded in the following fields 1 pre employment chest xrays for industry and business 2 coun ty wide educational program for tuberculosis prevention and control 3 an organized rehabilitation and personal aid program for discharg ed patients 4 expansion of chest xray clinic and admission xray service i would like to say how very much i have appreciated the honor of functioning as the president carried on at a satisfactory level this par ticular activity continued to pro vide 1 christmas gifts for all resi dents in sanatoria 2 personal needs as requested by patients from the county 3 policy was recently revised by the ontario department of agriculture and under the new regulations herd owners must have at least two grade cows in order to qualify for membership this has resulted in a number of the present members being unable to qualify and consequently several more herds can be accommodated those interested should immediately con tact the local branch of the ontario department of agriculture in mil ton the new dhia year commen ces with the month of may this means that in order to secure full value from the policy it is import ant to enroll at once this is the first time in well over two years that it has been possible to accept new applicants once the replace ments have been secured judging by past experience the membership is likely to remain closed for some time
