stanley park erin cars of thfj parish and a chartered bus met at the church at 2 oclock to convey the children and their pat ents and friends to the park enuring the afternoon the follow ing races took place as follows hoys and girls 5 and under boys and girls 5 6 and 7 boys and girls 8 9 and 10 for which prizes were awarded to every runner boys and girls race 11 and 2 for which prizes wtre awarded for the first six runners of each race boys race 13 and 14 which were won by john hulme john cum mins and barry jeffrey girls race 13 and 14 were won by marie emmerson pierrette pa- neau and ann tucker 1 married men race won by ken hulme phil carney and doug sar gent married women s race won by marg hulme eileen wilcox gab- rielle st jean women s kick the shoe race won by mrs pruneau a the day was so warm they failed to keep pace with the youn ger element who won a victory over them by a good margin all the parishioners enjoyed a picnic supper in the pavilion many of the children enjoyed a good swim and a boat ride at the park the pleasant day was brought to a close when the bus arrived for the trip home after everyone had enjoyed themselves towns share 80 coronation day a everv year in attractions and attendance the hornby gar den party sponsored by the ball clubs last week had an attendance of over 3 000 this year the garden party was held at johnson necland s farm near the cbl tower and there was no doubt that it was the largest half dollars worth of entertainment which has or will be offered in the district well known stage stars included mildred morey billy
