notes try lm cuki well lorry we didnl have a letf ion column lut wek but the main item of interest namely the dec oration day parade was taken care of in the new column of the paper it was certainly a great day with a good crowd on hand and the sup port from other organizations and al so from outof town branches of the legion was magnificent certainly we didnt think there has been as im pressive a parade in georgetown since the coronation day affair the par td was quite large and was split into two sections with henry shep herd in charge of the parade and dave bowman in charge of uta second tertian both the lome scots band and the gtls pipe band added great ly to the parade congratulations and thanks to chief roy luicycnd his force for the mag nificent job they did of directing the heavy traffic flow on sunday et the parade that s the best job that has been done by a police force directing traffic in georgetown in many a day and now may every membw keep tn mind that lime is galloping along and it is only a few short weeks til ihr annual lumembrsnre day is or krvtsj in town so lets see a real rffort for that with every mrrnbrr on parade brcauae no matter how the branch trie it s still a sad fact out only a unall prrcrotauc of ihr ninn txri turn out fur thrae parades a sit uatiun which should and not and nrl not tx ijist sunjij in miltun the branch lhrr olitrrvrd an annual s e received a lot of paper dealing with various aspects of icion actl v itip the other day and wt re very happv to see t hatoner aain the le ion scholarships have kont over the top with well over twenty twins aw ardrd to ontario lads this is a ser vice that the lcrinr provincial com mand took on some years ago and one that has met with singular suc cess and that with only a percentage of the branches contributing it n interesting to note that the a to the icion appartntl have taken it a real deal more seriously than the branches with their donation com inn in almost 100 per cent while the level of branch donations is much below that however the branch donations in moat instance are bigger happy to say that georgetown has donated handsomely to this for the past four years and we hope will do to again but what we started out to ay i that this project was originated with the idea that in this day and age a large number of scholarships are av ailable for the brilliant student hut none for the lad who u just average so a board was set up to administer this with the active cooperation of high school principals and each case is judged not on a high academic standing but rather on his ability to make a decent passing grade and the financial need of his parents it is one of the very few legion projects which u naturally enough limited to legion members sons in tbe same hatch of gunk from the provincial command we find that they arc once more taking up the cud gel with the provincial government over the apparent discrimination to wards legion in the administraton of the liquor laws in ontario there are three major points to the brief ubmlttrd to lrline minuter krust and it is hoped that this time he ajar hu cabinet will get b0sy and act on them our good fnend and liquor bead judge robb asked for luiftfe tons and critic urn to be presented in writing to hu department and he government a- now he lot them so let s have action a copy of the resolution is available on the bulletin board our own private con lenlion is that a piial di parliiu nt ihould hr rt up to dt al with rrv re- men a clubs bet mir its ludirroui to tx trtalrd by the barm act that ap plies lo
