newipeper asvodaon and the ontario oviiion of the cwna a beautiful building visitors to the new cedarvale school for girls which field open hoove on a recent saturday focnd it a beautiful addition to the town and a wonderful aid to the education which so many young peopie will re ceive through the inlerest of the united church which subsidizes the school the school has progressed a lottg way since its establishment it always has been blessed with a com patent staff from the days when xaiis jessie oliver was superintendent to the prevent time when mrs or pha houvton is in change but it has long lacked lh physical necessities which are equally important to provide a home for the young people who spend their formative years as boarders speeders beware we will have 300 new enemies after they read this column but we can t help but agree with the pro nt policy of enforcing speed laws in town limits some two hundred people have been clocked over the speed limit summonsed and fined there will be others in future the police department warns for they are determined to make georgetown s streets safer and the most effective method is to reduce spee ding tn general by nabbing speeders in particular police chief haley is quoted as saying that it is not his intention to persecute drivers and while he doe in t say so there is a good bit of leeway being now they have been supplied with the most mo darn in equipment lovely bedrooms and playrooms a tutcrven which would be the envy of any housewife a modern classroom add these to the natural beauty which hat always been a mam cedarvale asset and there is little to be desired it is a wonderful work which the church is domg perhaps the best appreciation came from four of the original students who made a point to come back to the open house after all these years and the fact that these four ladies thought enough of their george town home to do so must have added the final note of oy for the ladies wtvo form the school staff on that momoiable day allowed before a summons is resorted to but it will be a continuing policy of keeping mot orists within the bounds of safety particularly on such thoroughfares as the highway the 9th line queen st and maple ave where there has been too much reck less driving in the past until an electrical timing device was adopted it was often difficult to register convictions and the pol ice found themselves powerless to do much about it the new system is relatively foolproof and motorists are realizing that it difficult to challenge this impartial c ocker when in use trip ends but not for us although mr and mrs john cordaro returned home last week from their extensive tour of europe their experiences will still be shared with herald read ers for another few weeks in this issue another instalment of their visit in italy appears and we stui have two more letters which mrs cordaro mailed from england en route home plus a further note which she is contributing about the voyage home if is not too early to tell the cordaros how many other people have been travelling with them and how mrs cordaro s letters have been enjoyed the ed or for one although he has always been supplied with two or three in advance has opened only one at a time so he too could get the weekly 1hnll of the trip the last two m fact are still sealed and we can hardly wait to find whether they got to jerusalem or not it was a distinct favour for herald readers to have these letters which were so much superior to the average travel talk mrs cordaro has a knack of tell ing about the little things which collectively sum up impressions much more than scores of statistics who can forget her ewellery experiences in italy her rec olloctions of her native english jown her comments on pans or her oy with switzerland she is lucky to have been there and we are lucky to have shared tho trip lions club family turkey draw this is not a dice game -but- a chance for everyone to try their luck and
