would like to enlighten my young protege on the subject of speedball it is played on a football field and u a combination of soccer ootball and basketball do not fret girls it real ly isnt rough i would like to see more interest shown in this sport there is a basketball kami between 10 and 12 scheduled for thursday weather permitting this h all the sports until next report a pts 70 6 10 34 75 4 have been taken to the sideline whit the atandarda have been transferred lo the asphalt a big improvement it teems our fears of injuries on the hard aurface were unfounded rule which must be occasionally amended are incorporated with a view to keeping the action going and inaintalnlng interest in the sport the tan second line keep the half mov ing forward three seconds in the key stop jamming and clinching in terest spirit and action sometimes flag for lack of these if on the new court the boy were sometime allow ed to referee the game a first hand knowledge of the working and reas oning behind the rule would be gai ned a few booklet on refereeing and fame fandamcntau would be a fine help at this time junior compuint depart jim gill needed bulletin hoard in the hall be side the principals office a part of the wall is used as a bulletin board we the student body think that it would be easier to put up and take down articles of interest if a proper board were placed there we could then uftc tacks to hold things in place instead of scotch tape which leaves a mark on and sometimes rips the arti cles of interest show cabinet since the school has so many cups and trophiri to its credit it is a shame that it has no pio- per place for thawing them 1 think it would 1m a nice gesture if some of the grade nine or others who lake industrial art or someone who is handy uith tools would make a nice showcase in which we could place he trophies kvrryone then could ad mire them and the one who worked so hard to earn them would br proud atiothet bus it 1 not rdeaaanl having to wait 40 minutes to an hour after school is over before you eci on the bus which will eventually lake you home why is there not another bus it will be necessary to have more buses very soon so why not one more now most days it is quie hard to hitch hike a ride and if you do ev entually take the bus the norval kids get home around 3 pm this means that they dont get much work done before supper anything we happened lo be having ierbap the variety in per sonage gave us new life for we even came to our senses long enough to take in a few helpful points as we have advanced in school and years kng iish and grade xi kngiish on be coming more familiar with her we have found that she combine enough slerness with the right amount of good humour to keep us out of rauvh- ief and progressing georgetown suf fered their first setback of the season when they were upset by preston pj the game was played in cold blinsrd- ly weather which made il impossible to use a passing offence pvott n started strong by don lost- ing the first quarter although failing to score th red and clus teemed to get rolling in the second quarter and uac- kenzie from the fifteen crossed for the major the convert attempt which later would have been the lying point was missed for the rest of the lecojirt half preston was a determined bunch and jack gib proved this by siocting ar ound jright end for what was to be bunaua tand and the end oi george towns pointless defensive rrcord the convert whirh was the major play of the game should never have happen ed the georgetown linemen crash ed through and lippared to have blo cked the kick nut unfortunately they seemedvo forget the ball was still in play and a preston man scooped up the ball from a mas of legs and he threw a wohbler to ron wintrford in the end tone fur the all important point georgetown recovered slowly from this shock of being on the tail end of the score but with three minutes re maining put on a drive that should have netted them the point dave hart booted one deep into the end- xone but the georgetown players were too slow getting down field and wes ton managed to sneak the ball on to the two yard line thus all weston had to do was hang on to the ball which they did and georgetown suf fered its first defeat of the season th oiwtosttowh hswalo wednesday evening ho rd u0- page 5 iwafobl li niglw any tim hflolrfcaapwag day
