norval the funeral service was conducted at the mcnab funeral home in hilton on saturday and interment was in milton cemetery mrs martin hear 84 active church worker a prominent member of sl johns united church where she was a life member of the wms and a former president of the womens association mrs martin l near died at orange- villc on sunday february 18th mrs near and her husband the late mar tin near lived for many years on george street after they retired from their farm situated between the 8th and 9th line mrs near gave up housekeeping and moved to orange- ville three years ago there are two stained glass windows in st johns church dedicated to mr and mrs near mrs near the daughter of the late mr and mrs robert akitt was born in erin township she lived there until her marriage to martin near when they took up farming on the near homestead on the peacock side- road upon their retirement mr and mrs near moved to georgetown mrs near was also a life member of the womens institute the last of her family she was pre deceased by three sisters and two brothers- mrs david hcenery ballin- afad mrs t graham caledon mrs h keeler erin john akitt of acton and william of caledon mrs near was in her 89th year the funeral service was conducted by rev mcfarlane wednesday af ternoon february 22nd in st johns united church georgetown the pall bearers were all nephews robert me- enery ray mcenery and ernie mc enery all of ballinafsd james brld en acton robert akitt guelph and bert akitt belwood interment was in greenwood cemetery
