corrective measures needed rail crossing dear editor in your last week s issue of the herald i noticed the list of accidents owing to weather conditions it is true it makes it extremely difficult at times but i still think whats behind the wheel is responsible for the great ma jority of them the posts at the bend of the highway are cleaned off about once a month and if an estimate was taken you would find that speed ing would be the cause of ninety five per cent and 1 might say that we all look both ways when approaching a railroad crossing and our speed should be so that would allow us to stop within three feet that is prac tieally the way i have been crossing it for the past fifteensyears and i must iy that i have neversjjccn near an accident before owing 10 both drivinj at a reasonably speed my accident was termed a fifty f if ty job by constable moore but i am not so much concerned about that as to what can be done about the road at that point as one never knows who they are going to meet up with in the future 1 cross it several times a week with the wife and family be sides going to work we have long since passed from the horse and buggy days and i think it is time we should make the necessary adjustments for faster moving veh ides the fill between the tracks is about four feet too short with the road at what it is now and the road could stand a good five feet width with a division in the centre to keep the scotsman full of porridge and the sionfeiners from ireland on their own side of the road as constable gunn would have me this or a superway would cut down on accidents and be justice to the tax puers as well so i hope those in chirge will see to it in the nor future for the sake of humanity yours lrul the georgetown herald wednesday evening april
