ment harold mcclure of that board opened thursday s meeting thanking those who had helped make a succesaful season mr force spoke and said he thought a good job had been done in providing lessons and april 17lh was the annual unknown friends ban quel at verdun rebekah lodge nine ty quests sat down to dinner mrs gordon king noble grand welcoin ed the members and introduced those who spoke during the toasts mrs kmj proposed the toast to the queen i he toast to the lodge was proposed by mrs 11 c bailey and responded to by mrs herb han cock the unknown friend toast was proposed by mrs bob jcpson and replied to by the vice grand mrs charlie gibbs all the speakers stressed the value of fellowship and working together to enable the order as a whole to make a valuable con tnbution for the good of mankind after the speeches the gifts from the unknown friends were opened and the members found out who had been so kind to them all through the past year names were aain drawn for the 1956 and 1957 season and everjone has started to wonder again a regular iodfet meeting was held after the banquet mac rusk dis tnct deputy president as guest with some members of her lodge even ing star milton with her it was decided to hold a picnic this summer instead of the usual bus trip i lans were made for transportation plans were also made for the euchre and he drawing qf the quilt on whieh members had been selling tic kets on saturday evening mr and mrs ray jones held open house in their new home which mr jones has built several neighbours and friends at tended and filled the house to over rowing saturday was a real day of celebration for the jones because it was mr jones birthday and also their wedding anniversary games were played and a singsong was held mrs jones served a delicious lunch and everyone received a piece of the anniversary cake best of luck to our good neighbours terra cotta club shower for lillian nolan on wednesday evening april 18th the thimble club held a shower for i illian nolan a number of guests were there and enjoyed the games that were plaed lillian received some very useful and lovely gifts the surprise of the evening for lil ban was the serving of a specially made cake which had been decorated wilh all the names of the members and lovely lowers mrs john donovan eavc a birthday party for her daughter barbara last week her teenage friends were the guests they spent the evening danc ing and playing games two of the guests were also celebrating their birthdays lois miller and david jones the hostess served a lovely lunch the thursday thimble club
