general hospital last wed nesday mr armstrong had un dergonc a successful operation on monday and death from phlebitis was unexpected and a severe shock to his family a farmer at mayfield until ten years ago he had since been em ployed at the a v roe plant at malton he lived at calcdon east for two years after retiring from farming and moved to georgetown eight years ago son of the late george and eliza beth laird armstrong he was born in peel county where his father farmed on the 3rd line chlngua cousy he attended public school at mayfield then farmed with his father taking over the farm after his father s death his elder son norman now operates the farm ii was prominent in community life in the neighbourhood serving as a trustee of mayfield school on the management board of claude
