and settled on lot 1 between the 6th and 7th lines hut son benjamin was the first white child born in the erin dis trict november 11th 1821 the first revival meeting of the settlers was held in mr roszells home he gave land for the first school for the first methodist church cemetery parsonage and a temperance hall rev tyndall and hu wile and family lived in the parsonage for a number of years abraham buck was another ear ly settler william havens was ap pointed clerk of the local munici pality thomas merry a native of ireland is credited with giving bal linafad its name a mr hopkins was
