your friendly goodyear dealer herald advertising brings resultsll chatting with m h b 0 we took a little motor trip over to niagara tails n y the other weekend to see a melody fair musical comedy the trip down was lovely we vt done a lot of grousing about the wet weather this year but one nice result has been the way the grass and shrubs have kept their fresh greenness no parched summer landscapes this year it happened to be around support imc as we drove along the queen elizabeth and i noticed that nearly all the wayside tables were being put to good use by families on a picnic outing as we n eared niagara falls of course the majority of cars heading for the states were from the state of new york and toth ef us observed that tht lie tnce plates of more than half of them had rusted and corroded some to the point where the num bers were hardly distinguishable very likely the result of poor en amelling it detracted from the appearance of the sleek new mod els 4 the bio melody fair lent wab filled to capacity that ev ening for wish you wert here visiting melody fair when it had summer seasons in toronto was always a treat for us it seems to me that they made their big mistake when they took the prod uction indoors to mutual street ar ena even had the sound amplifi cation problem been surmounted to the satisfaction of cvervone which it wasn 0 the whole infur mal charm of a summer theatrical in a huge tent reminiscent of chat auqua days was lost compkuh they arc using the same tint in north tonawanda as they did in toronto and iwas glad to see that thev were being well patron ized from what we gather from the toronto papers i am sorrj to say that canadian summer thtal res are not thriving this season another summertime pleasure i used lo injov and still could mind night before when they had attended their first such affair apparently a couple of them had been asked to dance by an old man why he 5 at least thirty thev say he goes to all the dances and tries to get the girls to dance with him a real character at which point i snuck quietly out the back door 0 while visiting relatives recently the conversation veered around to the subject of losing things mv aunt told us a remarkable little story about how she had lost a valuable diamond bracelet while driving down to florida last winter when she dis covered it was missing they were a good many miles past iher last stop where they had bought gas quite naturally they hadn t taken note of the name of the sas stat ion however they did remem ber that there was a turkev farm also run by the gas station owner and everyone had got out of the car to relax for a few minutes bo fore proceeding m aunt didn t re call even touching her bracelet but it was the onh clue they had to finding it after discovering her loss they stopped at several gas stations to see if anyone knew tht name of the service station owner with tht turkey farm the thought they could phone back and ask him to look around bis property but no body knew him in that locality thty had travelled mort than a hundred miles since their last stop so they weren t nalh expecting too much help along that line thus the bracelet was practical given up as lost with one small hope still glimmering however they would call back at tht turkcv farm station on their return tiip so three weeks later that is what they did my uncle spoke to tht owner about the bracelet and asktd him if by any chance it had betn found on his propertv the proprietor jiid that yes a bracelet had been pick ed up off the grass a few weeks ago and would m uncle please step inside he had put it with st eral other lost articles and odds and ends in a dirt old tin box in the garage sure e noujh there was the missing bracelet recen ing his just reward the proprietor of the service station was mon than surprised he had never even suspected that the rhinestoncs wert the real thing and needless to sav his pleasure was more than matched bv mv aunts who valued the bracelet as a keepsake above all else a if you were reading chatting about a vcar ajo vuu mav recall that we tak d ibout hominc pistons m tunosih hid bun iroused b see tng quite a number of thtm in crates up at thi cnr st ition it turned out that thev wert mint homing pigeons and it was quite interesting to find out about this sport whirh i h iitn t known even existed be fori 1 1st week to completion in time for school opening in september the roadway opens a town road allowance which will provide an important link between sections of georgetown on either side of no 7 highway up to the present all traffic is funnelled through the mill and water street bottleneck including through traffic from mil ton to toronto most important locally is that the road will provide a passageway for pupils from the park district of town who will be attending wrig glesworth school m the future before setting their plans for the fall the school board was assured by council that the road would be passable condition whtn school opens the 40 foot road planned by thj town engineer douglas wilson bridges silvtr creek tremendous amounts of fill have been remov ed from proptrty recently acquir ed by tht high school board from the jack tost farm to fill in a valley and to provide an embank cnt for the new bridge which is completed a suit walk will be built on the south side of the road and guard rails erccttd on both sides as a safety measure for pedestrians and traffic many rtsidents have visited the site lo watch the huge alrex scrap ers eltscnbtd bv one man as din aurs thev would
