28th although he retired from active practice 20 years ago dr barnhart physically active and intellectually versatile maintained keen interest in a wide range of subjects until his death only two weeks ago he flew to new york to discuss publi cation of a book hejiad been work ing on for many years entitled biophysics a word of his own coi ning it is a philosophical scientific work born in oro in 1866 son of hiram and margaret morrow barnhart he was educated at orillia collegiate and the university of toronto he was gold medallist of the 1891 gra duating class for the next few years he was successively resident physician at toronto general hos pital and assistant surgeon at st michaels hospital in 19016 he went to the united states and for 30 years was assist ant physician at central islip ny state hospital he served in the united states army medical corps in 19171918 retiring whh the rank of lieutenantcolonel it is recalled that he was called to testify in the famous 1906 mur der project council must ac cept legal advice when cr ern hyde gave his opinion that swanek brothers rather than mr munro had been responsible for the drainage prob lem in the subdivision the mayor said council action must be based on legal opinion and unless a motion was placed on the table to discontinue action the suit will proceed asking about a petition sub mitted last year for sidewalks in the
