night the dinner will be a ood one with he wa doing their usual great job of catering price sj00 the hamilton tv station chgh who did such a great ob of covering the zone parade on their special events local news are again going to take film of the affair and will rebroadcast it if possible as they did then tnis should be rjuite a boost fqf our membership drive for which the nigh has been ar ranged r r- incidentally before we get star ted might we- repeat the reason behind the questionnaire that you were asked to fill in at fhe last general meeting the election of officers we approached the new members with a propositibn by which we could introduce them ev er week to the members in this column without exception they all thought it an excellent idea so we asked the executive to put out a questionnaire asking a few per tinent questions that might be of interest as soon as we get the questionnaires from the secretary charlie day to whom they arc be ing turned in well start we did think of starting sooner but felt that if we waited we could do it alphabetically and get everyone we assure you that the writer was not thinking of using it for any dark or nefarious plot in fact it never crossed our mind that any one would think such a thing until one of the boys told us that he had been told by a member that he didnt like the idea thought it was gestapo business and was ge nerally agin the whole idea so we hastened to add the asurance above that we had no plots our thought was fairly simple that it would merely help the boys get ac quainted much faster and thanks for the great response to it we in tend to start the addition to the column next week regardless of our comrades worries about it plans are pretty well completed for thebig dinner and it is expec ted there will be a big crowd on some first rate entertain ment has been obtained by the ex ecutive and all in all its a great night coming up on the 22nd the sports meeting of the zone was held last sunday in milton with a goodly group attending from the various branches in the zone we were asked the other hay in the rooms when was the airforce actually formed as a separate part of the armed forces according to the official air force history the official beginning took form in march of 1924 previous to that it was considered an adjunct of the army and we believe official ly attached to the artillery during the 1914 1918 war it known as the the royal flying corps in fact the men who had that rfc badge are few and far between and arc justly piuud o thei d lapel pin and their rfc crest any ground crew serving wiili the rfc in the first war were mainly army mechanics and a few special ists to anyone interested the history of the air force in great britain and the dominions is an extremely interesting one and also a number of the other official air war histories particularly we like to think of one jim king loaned us some time ago canadas fight ing airmen which- is better than most detective stories for sus pense and thrills the legion has officially made the week of april 22nd their member ship week and hope to have each branch arrange something for each day of that week the slogan duplicate by 58 reg cleator provincial vice pre sident expect to be with us on the night of the 22nd reg is well known in town through his leg ion and hockey associations sugar and spice did you read that story in the papers the other day about lance reventi6w his twenty first birthday in ease you didnt ill fill you in someday you may have the pleasure of filling me in with a shovel at any rate lance is the son of barbara hutton woojworth heiress shes got moretn6ney than walter harris lance is her son by her marriage to coitnt von haugwiu revent- low whom she wed 24 hours after divorcing prince alexis mdivafii skp is now married to baron gott fried von cramm now is that per fectly clear know what she gave lance for his 21st birthday she gave him a brand new 500000 home atop a mountain in beverley hills no i think thats going a bit too far shes going to spoil that kid first thing you know a couple of cadillacs yes a yacht maybe but a house thafs worth haf a million dollars is a bit vulgar when i read the headline of this story my first feeling was a touch of envy but as i got into the body of it i realized that this fabulous house didnt have anything mine didnt at least nothing to make me lose any sleep over at first glance lance might seem to have a slight edge in prop erties designed to his specifica tions it is perched high on a mountain and is his pride and joy mine was designed by an eccentric who drew up the plans in collabor ation with anno of green gables it squats in the middle of a flat re of rutted lawn and cedar hedge gone native and is my hor ror and frequent mortification but from there on were even and im a little more even than he is in spots for example his house has its own walcrfaur a swimming pool which enters the living room and a marble bath which holds 300 gallons of water so ive got a trout stream in the cellar two kids who enter the liv ing room with jam sandwiches and a patio that holds 3000 shingles i took off the roof five years ago lance has an instrument panel with 36 buttons at the foot of his 15foot bed it controls the tem perature of the house and has- a button to start the water flowing in the bath but i can and have buttoned 36 buttons on my kids clothes on sunday morning when theyre getting ready for sunday school without opening my eyes ill bet he has to look at his but tons temperature in my house is controlled by the weather as it should be without having to push buttons cold outside cold insido hot outside hot in the house nor do i need to push any buttons to start water flowing any day this time of year theres about six inches flowing around in my cel lar ok ok so hes- got a is foot squa bed th wily tima lrj notice to creditors in the estate of dr paul beer chemist deceased i all persons
