class the first meeting of the halton manor hobby class for the 1957 58 season was held on wednesday afternoon september 4th in the dining room of the manor with be tween 35 and 40 men and women in attendance a brief business po place we do know there are not as many of our own members up there as wc would like to see but this is a matter of personal prcf erence and not a great deal can be done except to make the parties attractive enough to want to go to s all readers know a special con cession is made veterans clubs b the ijcik inasmuch as wc are al lowed to have guests on our dance ecninss there again wc can find nothing wrong with this ax lonq as they froo obey the rules and if they don t the branch has the best comeback in the wovld merely to tell them that they are no longer nod dealing with matters pertain ing to the winter and spring season welcome in the building and there ending in slay 1957 was presided again wc dont believe that there over by mrs stewart lockie who should be any question of allow had been assistant director at that ing them back in again the follow time ing week or any week thereafter at the conclusion of this business wc feel theres a few rules that organuauonal period i could be strictly adhered to and period an conducted by stanley allen the new superintendent at the manor in very able fashion resulted in the following slate of officers all elected by acclamation director mrs stewart lockie assistant director mrs staney al len social convener mrs mary shaw treasurer mrs laura smith secretary muriel thomp son advisory council of three mrs haxel smith hilda marcy and william hughes before vacating the chair in hon or of mrs lockie the new direc tor mr allen outlined some pro jeets in cabinet making that he hopes to have accomplished by christmas time with the aid of the men residents with mrs lockie in the chair would pay off in dividends first of all no one who doesnt treat the building and acts as they would if it were their own home should be allowed in secondly they should be properly dressed and thirdly once they leave they should do so reasonably and quietly not as has been the case stopping for an ear ry morning round table discussion under somebodys window thats none of our business you say oh but it is and you can easily check for yourself by reading the lcbo act page 139 paragraph 2 sub section 4 which sas patrons and members leaving licensed premises must lo so in an orderly manner refraining from conduct tha may be deemed offensive to neighbour ing residents so once again wed recommend that once some one has an open discussion on such pcrtin- w cnttopes as the hours during violated that rule they too be bar- which the meetings arc to be held the financing of the activities the class displays of work accom plished and social afternoons was held the singing of a round row row row your boat a contest ba sed on the names of flowers and the repeating of the mizpah bene diction brought this very success ful organizational meeting to a close red from the building incidental l ly this naturally cannot be watch ed by those in charge of the dan ces but wc think members could cooperate by letting the executive know of any instances where there is undue commotion outside and who is responsible for it each member is a part owner of the building as well as a member and should do everything
