earl iince rumour has i it will soon be captain will be ar ranging things jointly with presi dent iarin and it is hoped lo have it in the near future vnfortunately the reporter was was missing from this meeting so a full report is not available we like the idea of the proposed turkey shoot and think it will be a real good mght the affair i- to be held real soon and we predict a real turnout for it turkeys have been donated by the legion and some ducks have auo been giwn we understand carman copland do nated two ducks and that percy clark donated two and rex hes lop saitfrhed contribute to the kitty also further donations have been tentatively offered so it sohuld be a real do the shoot should be a real god one and we predict that it will br about the best attended turkey shoot in history we hear a cha lenge match has been set up for pat chamberlain and henry shep herd pats still trying to prov- that sergeant majors dont get to be sergeant major- on their shoot ing ability hcnr on the otiur hand says he could close his c is and still get a hotter siore than pat gets and sas if you dont believe him ask pas dog inndenulv said dog hasnt hern in to see us at the legion lately henry says it s because his masters shooting is i had that the poor dog refuses to he seen in his company still talking about the match vm- hear the president and the arc going to have a friendly arid gervin that rhvdate will be rfiday dec 20th details next week i we saw our old friend bill roncy in the branch the other night with his brother chic many of the ol der members will remember chic wh6 lived here years ago he is now a resident of newmarket and is active in the branch there that is the branch incidentally where our first vice president harold ea ton comes from harold is an ex ecutive with the dixon pencil co there and has been active for ma ny years guess we can title this winner and still champ john t is once more the mayor of our fair ci ty land we think con gratulations are in order jack has al ways been- a good friend to the branch and has given unsqntingly of his time to further its interests last year he was made an honorary member as were his two predeces sors joe gibbons and h cleave the ontario command provincial public relations committee met on saturday november 16th at com mand headquarters 22 college su toronto present beside the eight public relations officers were secre tary pat biggs 1st vjepcesident harold eaton organizer reg clea- tor and other provincial officers this was a fairly hefty meeting starting as it did in the morning and going through with only an hour break for lunch until late af ternoon all phase of public rcla tions work came up and how the work of various committees could be coordinated with this commit tees efforts altogther it was a very informative and interest ng day wo ai pleased to heat from the institute for the blind that thrc bank n progressing satisfactorily a tremendous nutnlter of applic i tions have been asked for and a sv isfactory number have been re turned and this number is grow ing each week with armistice supper in the limbo of the past christmas tree is fast approaching as is the new year s party where has the veiir gone to you ask and well ve all might possibly its the relent less beckoning of age but each year seems to fairly fly h and by the same token maybe its for the best because busy times are usually happy ones this year has been an epic one in the history of the legion branch with the purchase of the next door girage and the liquor store this rounds out the hranch property m ecly for any future expansion it is only a matter of time of course until we have to expand and it i- nice to know that the place r there when we want to use it may w congratulate the senior officers fm their netting down to bumniss al ready in the matter of stjrting to pay fur it anil we believe there has already been a sixeahle rt due hon in the loan there again as lung as branch 120 managcxio gi t good sensible business i4fnintsfra tion we dont think it will be ei long until the place is comn u ly paid for as our own building has long since been and we might add that at an ex ecutive meeting last thursday it was announced thai we now have some 412 members paid up then of course theres a sizeable number still to come and should swell the total considerably it is not going to be too long until we hit the 500 mark mind you we were loll not so long ago by a member that we were not going to increase but would likely decline that we cant buy however and the figures of the past six months bear us out if each menftber will bring in one new member then wou really be progressing you cant stud still so get but and dig up a new mem bership application before 1868 in cidentally we feel anyone that be comes a member now should be ahowed branch privileges until the ejsd of the year and dues effective from then we think that would create a great deal of good wilt and could be very easily arranged r understand that president gar vin paid his annual pilgrimage to see judge robb last week and that he found everything in fairly good order the judge seemed to feel thatrthe local branch was doing a reasonably good job noticeto creditors in the estate of james hender son russell tool and die maker deceased all persons having- claims ag ainst the estate of
