sunday school held their annual christmas con cert the evening started well with a supper being provided by the ladies of the church after which santa clans appeared giv ing each of the children an executive must have said the secret word to the oha in a phone call some time last week end because sun day morning they got the long awaited nod to launch the juniors into junior c competition in the s v4 teacher escapes death when train hits car thomas beer of r r 3 george town escaped injury last wednes day morning when his car collid- j with the morning train from hamilton approaching george town at the crossing on no 17 sideroad near smiths garage there was approximately 1000 damage to the vehicle a late mo del ford ranch wagon cst hardy of the milton detachment opp who investigated the accident de- sci ibed the road condition as slip pery the crash occurred at about 8 45 while mr beer was on his way to georgetown high school where he is a member of the teaching staff three cars were involved in a rear and collision on no 7 high way near silvercreek on sunday resulting in injuries to one of the drivers and his wife mr and mrs henry bolton of arthur ave ac ton the injured couple were ta ken to guelph general hospital for treatment also involved in the collision were cars driven by wm snade of guelph and arnopp armstrong of r r 5 rockwood the total damage was estimated at with the understanding that it would be the nucleus for a complete new high school this fall a 2storey 8room addition was completed decision qasize of building to replace- the demolished building has been deferred for further dis cussion with the department as to size type and number of rooms permission was received when a delegation from the school board interviewed officials of the dept of education last week in toronto further discussion will be held on the matter of starting a sec ond high school in milton and us ing the present building for lov er grades only in the case of acton high school where town growth may warrant more than the four rooms presently requir ed the department wishes the school board to review the case so that sufficient rooms may be available as the enrolment increa ses meanwhile county council is re establishing a county consultative committee which was disbanded a year ago after investigation at that time seemed to show that no building would he was helping his father cut up a tree with a chain saw and it slip ped and cut the back of his hand and required about 40 stitches miss jean tosh and mr donald earle visited on sunday with mr and mrs ernie mcenery and family mr george gibson was home with his family fbr the weekend friday was a very busy day this week for the children and- part ents in this district in the after noon the pupils at the blue moun tain school presented a splendd concert and a great deal of the credit goes to mrs shortill who with the assistance of the music teacher did such a fine job of training them there was a good turndut of parents and friends and-fhe- chairman for the occas ion was brian sinclair assisted by billy mcesery who are in charge of the junior red cross the christmas meeting of the mission band was on sunday mor ning dt the home of mrs lawr with g members and 6 visitors present the new executive for the coming year was chosen as follows president allah jamieson secretary mervin
