dinner was held mon day december 16th at knox pres byterian hall by far the biggest crowd to ever attend sat down to a delicious roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings the meal was provi ded by the wives of the rotarians the rotaryannes after the meal president bill carr welcomed the guests and said that he hoped to see many more such occasions in the future he then called on bill maccor- mack to take over as mc for the entertainment portion of the ev ening a number of songs rem iniscent of the christmas season were sung by the group plus a few old favourites the next item was an illustra tion of stereophonic sound given by dr joe chamberlain and bill carr this showed how realis tic every day sounds can be when played in this fashion a favour ite of the gathering from last year was back again to please in the person of sandra sproule miss sproule sang very beautiful ly holy night and white christmas miss sproule was fol lowed by al berthiaume who amazed his audience with his feats of magic and sleight of hand his performance was indeed apprecia ted by all present no christmas party of course would be complete without a vis it from santa claus and this was the case monday night but as an innovation santa due we suspect to some scottish ancestry arriv ed to the skirl of bagpipes as well as the sound of sleigh bells santa distributed gifts to the lad ies and gentlemen present as sisted by members of the rotary in conclusion bill carr called on fred mcnally for a few re- lime house teachers direct annual xmas concert at school the wm edwards spent last weekend at fort erie deputy reeve c sinclair counc illor w linham and assessment commissioner a w benton atten ded reeve george curries christ mas dinner at hawthorne lodge milton on wednesday evening the hall was well filled for the ss no 9 annual christmas con cert directed by teachers mrs mc kay and miss quinton on thursday evening the program was apprec iated from little teddy browns re citation of welcome through hum orous and solemn drills dialogues songs and recitations to wee beth kams solo of good night san ta of course visited at the end to distribute gifts oranges and can dies mr fred brooks was chair man the parents association of ss no 9 sponsored a euchre in the hall on december 14th when eight tables were played and lunch was served at the close mr fred brooks won the turkey draw first prizes for cards went to mr burley and mrs clare wilson seconds to mr joe mcdonald and billic wil son tied and audrey wilson j ad consolations to mr c cross and miss quinton the wi catered for a turkey dinner for the staffs and employ ees of grand union stores of ac ton and georgetown in the hall on saturday evening your correspondent wishes ail those at the herald office a very
