unknown origin early monday- morning completely de stroyed credit valley boat works alnorval owned by hay pomeroy 3fte blaze- which broke oat at approximately 130 a m was first noticed by theresident of an ad joining home tqomas allen who woke mr pomeroy by banging on the- partition between the two dwellings provincial police from port credit detachment woke mr pomeroys son bill who was sleep ing next door and advised him to vacate the house it took georgetown firemen only a matter of a few minutes to ar rive at the scene of the blaze however cans of boat paint and other combustible fluids had giv en the flames too much of an as sist to be brought under control the firemen had their hands full in containing the blaze to the one structure since the heat scorched buildings on both sides as well as two piles of lumber in back of the ebuse everything in the house includ ing a boat under construction was r in the fire the boat build ing was a hobbv with mr pomer oy who is the office music was supplied by barbara and norman carhart and tom howden jim brooks called off for the old time dancing the lucky door prize was won by bill bailey and his ticket was drawn by carol jean neilson this year the orangemen are running a ma rathon euchre with prizes for the most attendance with the highest score at the end of the season kathy grexton celebrated her sixth birthday on january 8 with a party at the home of her par ents mr and mrs o grexton twelve of her little friends at tended the party enjoyed the games and the usual birthday cake with prizes and ice crea dr and mrs harris toronto visited with mr and mrs tom drewbrook on sunday and atten ded the st stephen s anglican church service witlf them congratulations to mr and mrs alan neil mary brain on the birth of the daughter after an illness of a few weeks james frederick dutch mccart ney died in the toronto general hospital on friday january 10th at the age of sixty two a nauve- of georgetown his parents were phoebe rancier mccartney and james mccartney he attended school in georgetown and as a very young man entered the pro vincial paper mills where he had a service recced of fortytwo years he was a
