tin oaoattitown hkau wmdr isnt aird 34 titt page high t a les nibusmd fty s1udbos of oeoioetown hioh school shtotlal memories stir as om twol dbaopeers marilyn souttwr about june of this year the stu dents of georgetown will be cheer ing wildly id front of ghs for it is then that one of our long advoc- atecljuid long cherished hopes will become a reality the old build ing which jjrs the eye is finally going to be demolished and the jokes about leaving sledge ham mers in last wills for its demoli tion are no longer jokes- ever since the first addition was built people have been intermittently crying to have the incongruous old reuc removed to us the old school is merely a wreck which mars the sleek ness of our otherwise modern school but to others who can re member its old dajs its demolition will mark the passing of an era in days gone by the old ghs was an ultra modern school when its tower were built thc overlooked a much different geor getown than the one of today and higher education was pounded into the heads of a very few pupils com pared to the present enrolment georgetown has rapidly outgrown the original school its industries have expanded its population dou bled then tripled and then out grown all expectations despite the changes in number of students now as then we hae a sense of homesickness when we graduate for we are leaving be hind our childhood association and hopes some graduates will go on to still more education others to begin working we will all be remembering the fun and the growing up we did at old ghs perhaps somedaj in the future we maj hear that the old relic we think is new is being torn down to make way for a modern school support the challenge youll value it later j kirm scott as one season said to the other spring has sprung and the cro cuses are blooming the onlj thing growing at ghs is the horrid thought of exams coming up it s hard to believe that we have been in school almost nine months the challenge this year is re ceiving very little support why should this be when there are so many students in the school there is no enthusiasm in this town or school for that matter for anything last year the kids had to be hourided for the cash which consisted of one dollar per person but they got it this ear the challenge v about to go to press and over one hundred subscriptions are needed to get it over the hump a book like that can t be published for peanuts every person gets his name into tht jear book in one place or ano tc rortaread bugh ther this fact should make ou feel that the challenge belongs to ou personally in about 25 years time if ou keep the prized pos session you can sit down with your grandchildren braggingly and say look you spoiled brat thats me and dont laugh side burns were in style then oh look theres lennyloo the slick chick that with the flick of the switch got a hitch from here to kalama zoo oh they were the days the reply from junior would be gee grandpappy youve done gone and lost all your hair since then your face is wrinkled a little and your lumbago is worse but other than that youre still as ugly as you ever were pow right in the kis sex for that lippy critter but on with the subject in hand every one thought a ear book was a good deal till they found out the might have to dofsomc work with it then the novelty wore off the editor is still chasing after individuals for reports that were to be handed in before the easier holidays how can artyifitng be a 100 per cent success when only 95 ptr cent support is being givh 1 his uncle en so come on kids jet in the groove and help but a little the june mcgewan hello out therel i not sid cae sar invite you to read this column i certainly hope everyone enjoy ed their easter holidays except for a couple of days rain the weather was quite warm and en joyable everyone wiiyf have to start cramming for final exams now since they are not far off we have lost two of- the pupils from our class recently sylvia perry has moved to another vicin ity carol francis has found a job where she hopes to succeed in our business practice course we have now been assigned a pro ject to be completed by the end of may this project will account for two per cent of our total marks here is a little joke for ou this boy and girl were going tc get married the boy went to his father and his father sas i think there is something i should tell ou oh 1 havcnt got the heart ask our mother his mother also said i havent got the heart ask your grandfather his grandfather didnt have the heart so he went to his grandmother but his grandmother didn t have the spirit to tell him so she sent him to his uncle his uncle final ly said i gutss jou shoud know bo there is no santa cldus over cherish and keep for the rest of our dajs as something to remember the das gone b at ghs take the challenge 10ft report we are getting closer to june as the weather becomes warmer there are only seven or eight weeks before the exams start our class has dwindled to a mere 27 now that david jones has left us for silvers store lynn hyde left a month or so back to go west with a surveying party we started the last stretch in a good way only two detentions so far five or six had lines two for gum in one period if we keep going like this we will soon lose thursdays and fridays spares and be obliged to return to school saturday morning as well to dev ote our time to spelling being in a class with only four girls and twentythree boys i have often wondered what it would be like in an all girls class the boys came out with some pretty funny as well as silly remarks heres a bit of friendly advice br all young lovers remember when ourc kissing your biau at the gate love is blind you know but the neighbours am t ded and each
