supplies of town water on monday when they discussed the work of inter national water supply ltd with j w kirk representing the firm mr kirk told council that the town has a very limited water source and the only possible i plies are contained in a pieglacial valley in the region of the pres ent town wells and the sewage disposal plant natural recharge from the river and rainfall u re plenishment for this and he spoke of the possibility in future yean of erecting a series of small dams to aid in this recharge a total of 13 test holes have been drilled at various locations jn town since the firm i gaged several months ago total cost of which is 8756 only large source of water discovered is in two holes near the present waterworks and mr kirk said it is still to be determined if tap ping these sources would affect the present wells capacity of the two new sources is estimated at half a million gallons daily each it would cost about 500 to complete the investigation to determine this he said cr fred harrison was critical of the large cost involved in ex ploration he had heard he said that there are wells within a 3 or 4 mile radius of town with large supplies of water what have we to show for our 8765 he said i dont- think half a million gallons is worth the money mr kirk said his company has thoroughly explored all possible- sources and these are conclusions they reached town engineer william carr said georgetown is currently con suming a million gallons daily with alternate pumping from the two wells cr em hyde agreed with the mayor when he said dominion drilling which located sources a few years ago bad said existing wells wouldnt affect each other they are 1200 feet apart and that 2h million gallons could be pumped daily mr kirk shook his head in disagreement available his report he said has been filed with the water resources commission which requires such action pumping tests conducted by the previous firm were not so filed he said and advised council
