entertains at manor by muriel thompson on monday evening march 9th the residents of halton manor had the pleasure of welcoming again to the manor the georgetown boys band augmented by a good ly number of adult players from the former lome scots band and the recently disbanded george town brass and reed band there were about thirty bandsmen young and old in the group mr vernon mccumber acted as chair man for the evening in ery pleasant fashion and mr a per rolt displayed his usual great skill and talent in the conducting of the band the band as a group played several hymns and inarch es all in the very acceptionsble fashion that is themark of this fine band one adult soloiat and three instrumentalists from among the boys displaed fine talent al the adult soloist was mr victor carter who of port cred visited the manor in order to entertain the residents with an evcriny of country tyle dancing thire uere j as man as 32 dancer including some of the residents and stall members on the floor for some of the dances all the dances were under the supervisnn of the very clever caller mr bert everett of port cred the dances performed covered a wid variety of dance forms such is traditional square dances like the gay gor dons gay polkas ilk the heel 4 toe polka and such lilting waltzes as the veleta and st bernard waltzes several of the dances on the program were repeated by re quest after having proved very popular on previous visits these included several waltzes and the square dance on thf trait of the lonesome pine which was sung by mr everett with the dancers joining in the singing at the end of each chorus all the dances were performed to the music of a recordplayer with mr everett using a microphone mr vlggers played the bones for several of the dances mr and mrs everett aroused much admiration when mr everett took time out to dance a very graceful dance with mrs everett part way through the evening the visitors presented a chocolate bar to each resident at the end of the dancing cold drmks and cookies were served bringing a very exhilarating even ing to a close the hobby class meeting on wednesday afternoon march 11 was apron meeting when the twenty
