booklet which they have recently issued however it is very disturbing to the members of the georgetown girls pipe band that this organi zation was not listed among the other various group activities in georgetown no doubt this was an ovcrsightpn the part of those who prepared this booklet many of the older residents of georgetown arc very familiar with the outstanding record of the georgetown girls pipe band however some of the newer resid enu may not be aware of the sue cess of this organization the georgetown girls pipe band was started b e roy magloughlen m 1942 seventeen years ago and at that time was one of the first girls pipe bands m ontario the band rapidly gained prominence at parades and other functions both local and in various parts of the province and also in the u s the band is now under the very capable leadership of pipe major e r magloughlen and receives leadership and financial assistance from our sponsors the george town lions club thus it would seem to the mem bers of the georgetown girls pipe band that through the years they have gained more promin ence and recognition in other cit les 3im towns than in the vcr town that they represent thanking you for here last wednesday follow ing funeral service in oshawa a the mcintosh funeral home in failing health since last dec ember the former julia perlrtn died in oshawa general hospital on may 31sl she had lived in oshawa with her daugbterfrs gordon a leslie for more than thirty years a daughter of the late wtuiam and elizabeth perkin she wasborn at marshland smeeth norfojt england she came to canada 47 years ago and lived in georgetown for sixteen years before moving to oshawa mr sleightholme who was a member of christ memorial anglican church there was mar nedat west walton norfolk in 1903 her husband died 34 years ago she leaves a daughter stella mrs gordon a leslie a grand daughter mrs r chatterton aud rey of oshawa one greatgrand child and a sister mrs george blythe of markdale
