land judging competition a pro gramme for senior farm operators was held during the afternoon ses sion some 35 farm operators took advantage of this meeting mr t lane soils department o a c and j a francis agri cultural representative conduct ed a soils tour bv bus at the farm of brock hams a discussion was held on farm management and mr lane outlined the land use survey available to ontario fanners in this programme over a thou sand farms in ontario have been planned for best soils use it is interesting to note that some of the recommendations made for these thousand farms indicate that on 90 percent of the farms an improved rotation was needed also 90 percent required improv ed fertility practices 70 percent of the group required pasture re novation three practices were recom mended on 50 of the farms the use of grass waterways con tour or field strips and thirdly drainagement improvement 20 of the farms had some form of reforestation recommended 10 required gully or stream bank
