p varied entertainment for manor christmas season by muriel thompson rev p a powell conducted the service in the chapel on sunday afternoon december 16 in his sermon he spoke of the fact that within the last twenty years manrtunr entered upon the atomic age and the space- age this has caused uneasi ness in the minds of many people especially when they realize that earth may not be the only planet however the space age really gives mankind a greater vision of gods ttower and proves with gneater force how god has revealed his love lor us by providing the birth of christ lorn scots a splendid turn out of bands men of the lorne scots military band filled the stage of the auditoriumsunday afternoon december 18th the- concert they gave for the residents was a fine one and was under the supervision of their director lieut e g corlctt of burling ton the stirring march col onel bogey opened the pro gram and liter in the program sousa s march sabre and spur was also played bandsman austin ledwith who possesses a fine singing oite led the audience in the singing of sev eral christmas carols while the band played the accompani ments two medleys prairie reflections a medley of cow boy songs and youman fan tasy a medley of vincent you mans sengs proved to be very popular with the audience sev eral other numbers rounded out tvarled program that was play ed by the band in its very cap able fashion xbe progrun ended with the hj inn the church s one roundalion yaong girls monday night december 19th was young girls night at the manor for on that evening about twenty oung girls twel ve and thirteen cars of age came to the manor to entertain the residents they were can j adian girls in training who j ns gifk are connected with si stephen s i and the residents the boys proved themselves to be very thought ful when they assisted with the serving of cold shrinks and cook les at the close of the program they proved their generosity also by presenting a basket of apples and ttbasket of goodies as gifts for the residents dravr for afghan during refreshment iimelnc draw was made for the two afghans for which tickets had been sold during recent weeks taut mcades one of thq scouts drew the tickets the large afghan was won by mrs frank llp ruddell rr no 3 georgetown mi held ticket no 82 ond the malt afghan by mr neil math- cion 7q wanita rd port credit who held ticket no 41 the hobby class thanks all those who bought or sold tickets for this draw before the distnbutiun of gifts mr s allen the suptr in ten dent read a list of the various donations that had bttn
