we faced the fact that development must be controlled that the 1954 agreement was sadly off balance that no further concessions should be granted that at least some of the promises must be fulfilled and that the key to our whole economical development was and is industrial assessment you the ratepayers have accepted the first fact that we must now pay for the heavy borrowing in the past and that we must progress on a pay as you go program however the second fact that we must control development has not been accepted by the developer the developer has said let us forget all our failures and commitments of the 1950s we cannot fulfil our promises so we will try something else in other words we the people lost the first horse race but let us take another gamble a maionty of council m 1960 and 1961 have refused to take any gamble there have been for the past two years several proposals none of which includ ed industry there have been threats of law suits and actual cosily litigation there is at present an attempt to smear and divide our town and there are other things that will come to light m the near future all this proves is that the devel oper is quite willing to gamble and use the taxpayers of georgetown as the chips has a bright outlook with the same attitude to financing and control there should be no increase in taxes there is one thing alon that can reduce your
