re i blvd georgetown ont 4th november 1d82 the editor the georgetown herald georgetown ont dear sir a week or two ago a group of people founded an asiocia tion aiming to improve condi tions in georgetowns ward 3 they held a dance may i make a more com t met iv suggestion let ui work for the completion of the paving of our roads for ex ample ai it standa now the surface treatment of most streets in the subdivision ti barely sufficient to allow traf fie to pan some roads are in a far worse condition what ia needed is a perman ent asphalt pavement with pro per curbs installed at the time time sidewalks have be repaired where they have deteriorated and the catch ha sins of the storm water sys tem have to be aligned with the pavement admittedly this ia an ambi tious undertaking which we may not be able to complete all at once rut because the programme is or some magni tude it should be started im mediately after the new coun cil takes office in january one of the new councils first tasks must be the drafting of a plan ensuring the complet ion of the road paving pro gramme within a reasonable time as all public expendit ures the coat should come out ot revenue collected by gener al taxation without the levy- ing of additional moneys and under no circumstances must the opening of additional residential sections with even more roads to care for be per mitted until this programme and others notably the raising oi- the industrial assessment to h level consistent with our pre sent population has been ach ieved georgetowns ward a the delrex subdivision is now extent that they will always fight for what n right regard less of whether thry may make thrmselvei unpopular with their immediate attociatci and last but not least ire they strong enough to hold their own in face of opposition for example i would chnor mr krn hyde for mayor for here man who during his lime office did try lo improve georgetown without adding jny extra burden to the tax payer getting more work done in his year nf office on less expenditure then regarding his hnnnty well he provrd that conclu lively by being the first mayor in thu town to turn down bribe which i am sure you 1u agree if hr had not could have had very serious rrprr cushions on this town next the reeve well that s easy mr john elliott of course a man who ia always thinking and working for georgetown then
