end if there is to be much house building in the next year or two we should find out now what the dept of education now considers maximum size mg problems out in the open one item of business was the discussions with the de partment to see just what they have m mind for georgetown board chairman donald g law son commented t would like board will deal with afterhours supervision the multi million dollar build ing and equipment that is geor getown and districts high school on guelph st will have better supervision during school hours now that the lack of it has been brought to the board s attention principal donald turner told a joint meeting of the high school board and advisory voc- bellamy will head red cross campaign the georgetown chapter of the canadian red cross has set monday march 14 as the ten tative date for their annual blitz in a news release to tbe herald tuesday it was announc ed that mr j r bellamy of the georgetown district high school teaching staff has been named campaign chairman and local design consultant james warren vicechairman as in the past march will be red cross month abonal committee monday night that at present it is possible for anyone to wander the school corridors until 11 pjn thafs the time the caretaking firm locks up after cleaning operat ions mr turner said the problem existed because no one has been authorized to supervise the building after 5 pm he sug gested either the caretakers be authorized or somebody be placed on duty until closing the matter was left with property committee chairman e e hall he u meet with the caretaking firm and discuss the possibility of their assuming the responsibility for supervis ion see a committee set up to deal with it one of the concerns or the board is the amount of proper ty space which will be required for a composite school of jhe ultimate size allowed by the dept of education at present the department allows a com posite schools teaching space to be sufficently large to accom modate 2200 students george town s enrolment is 1 050 and when tie wing under construc tion is completed the school will be able to handle over 1 400 students one thing is sure the prop erty on which the high school is situated isn t big enough for a building of the ultimate size in fact when the addition now being constructed is completed the property will be about 23 acres short of that recommend ed by the department for a school of that size just when house building on the recently released area of delrex subdivision and the moore farm property starts anl the extensiveness of it will in fluence directly the boards plans to add more property space but theyre not waiting until then a committee made up of the board chairman vice- chairman and tho heads of com mittees was named at the meet ing to meet with the inspector mr vickers february 14th ott the subject of the schools indultimateespacity library asks increase in per capita grant in explaining the probable price hike mr noble pointed out that the new milk market ing board has increased the price of milk paid to tbe farm er so the dairies have had to pay the increase in town the dairies are selling milk at 26c a quart at present but in hamilton kitchener and orangeville tbe price is 28c and in br it is 27c the jug milk stores say they have heard nothing of a rise in prim as yet bank teller visits relatives jn
