next week at the high school rev frank well nagton from toronto has be come known throughout the un jted states and canada for his children s programs and has been written up m newspapers all across our land rev wellington brings with him a galaxy of star puppets in eluding two sailors tiny and tilly as well as chocolate and tjncle cy an excellent vent nloquist rev wellington is a comedian that keeps the child xen laughing behind all the stories the musical gadgets blmstnps and flannelgraphs is a message geared for children around the ntheme boys and girls bear uncle cy the talking dummy remind hem that duty to god comes first and that ev erybody ought to go to sunday school the time of he meetings is 10 am each morning of easjer week and is open to children of every week since night school term ended seventeen enthusia stie students have continued to go to school finding frank black s art classes so interesting they formed their own club the palette and pencil club first baptists sunshiners bring warmth to manor its st patrick s day decorations for a visit from a group of georgetown friends of long standing on tuesday evening the continue to meet every 1 ia week in the home ot mrs h members of the sunshine son rudi stevens cres but ara baptist church planning to obtain a club room georgetown the president the niinii mrs k thnmii eventually in time they hope to the auditorium still retained bers the first number was a sing song of familiar hymns and secular songs led by mrs jean hancock the visitors had brought with them rev w bax ter the minister at st paul s baptist church in georgetown mr baxter is an accomplished pianist and he played all the pi ano accompaniments rev wellington school age there is no admis sion charge although an offer ing is taken to defray expenses a bumper crop of children are expected and if the pattern of previous years is the same the high school uditonutn will be filled to capacity georgetowns womens groups at businesswomens dinner have speakers and demonstrat ors to help them further their knowledge of ar frank black their teacher and honorary chairman comes each week to share his knowledge with his eager pro tegees the club plans ketching trips in the warm wea her and tours of art galleries in the non skel ching weather they have been invited to show their paintings at the brampton flower festival in june and we have bravely volunteered to oo so said chair man mrs ii moulden i other officers in the club in addition to honorary chairman frank black and chairman mrs h moulden are mrs pearl guthrie vice chairman mrs john hogg secretary and mrs t burgoyne treasurer the group mrs e thompson and the convener mrs m por ter were both present the program had been arranged by mrs porter and her group mrs porter extended greet ings and announced the mum- during the program two young ladies marion whan and bren da mcneil sang two duets he and how great thou art mrs hancock sang a solo somebod bigger than you 8nht and mr baxter played a piano solo the hbly city the devotional part of the program was taken by mrs j mccosb who had chosen verses 3242 of chapter 14 of sl marks gospel as her subject her thoughts based on christ s suffering in the gar den of gethsemane were ap propriate to the easter season the closing bymn was coming home sung by request the enure program was both an inspiring and an enjoyable one and it was a pleasure for the residents to have these friends of long standing with them again many- friendships were renewed during the soc ial hour when tea coffee coo kies and small cakes were ser ved mr baxter played piano selections during this social hour although st patrick s day had been decorated with a cen tral bouquet of artificial flow ers flanked by two large yel tow chrysanthemum plants the birthday cake also on the head table was an especially attrac tive one it was iced in green and white with the words top of the morning on the top thus carrying out st patricks day theme after an entertaining pro gram the guests of honor those residents with birthdays march were called to the head table the candles were lighted on the birthday cake the hap py birthday song was sung and a pretty card and a 1 bill was presented to each guest the delicious refreshments were donated by the auxiliary and the manor sandwiches ice cream birthday cake tea and coffee the residents who were the guests of honour at this merry and delightful party were mrs l placr mrs v mccaf frey mrs m shepperd m s g burnell and messrs j j bcgley v foley s baverstock h rogers business and professional women s club were hostesses to an interclub meeting of local ladies organlza tions st paul s baptist church first baptist church countess of strathmore chapter iode hospital auxiliary red cross teachers federation knox church and the kinette club were represented after dinner and a sing song hiss jean mackenzie introduced the special guest speaker mrs barbara stearn from brampton her theme was the lighter moments of club life mrs stearn is a very dynam ic humorous person and her talk was greatl enjoyed by everyone she stressed the fact that one must be organized to be successful and sighted sever al instances in her life of club work where she wasn t prepar if you break off a key in a lock run an old jigsaw blade into the cylinder along side the broken key and twist it so the teeth bite into the key pulling on the blade while in this pos ition will remove the broken piece ed and the funny disasterous situations she got into mrs chris hornby thanked her on
