which cov era all elements of first aid procedures as well as suggest ions for teaching is being taught by mr gordon krueger director of first aid services canadian red cross society on tario division the course is being conducted in the georgetown volunteer ambulance hall and in the caf eterla of the georgetown and district memorial hospital as in many other fields first aid has undergone tremendous changes and improvements in the last few years with he ev er increasing rate of accidents the i nurses felt that while they could function capably in a hoi pltal eraergwcy a roadside ac cldent would pose an entirely different set of problems hence the course is being enthusiasti catty received as a result of this special course those attending will qualify as first aid instructors to try their skill against branch 120 in the annual acton and georgetown dart tournament thia year branch 120 are to be the host we believe that com rade bill collier is working on this vice president reid represen ted branch 120 at milton branch on the occasion of the inter county dart finals comrade reid had the happy chore of presenting the trophy donated hy branch 120 to the team from branch 136 who won ute inter silver wood gift honours leadership in 4h girls club work mrs harry marchington was presented with a gift for work with 4h clubs when membcs of silver wood women s insti tute held their annual meet ing mrs fred campbell was hostess institute officers this year are mrs george henderson president mrs ian carmichael 1st vice president mrs russell miller 2nd vice president mrs group three musical festival pnrewinners entertain ed with songs each resident whose birthday came in april received a small gift and card the head table was decorated with flowers and a beautiful birthday cake was cut and pas sed around with tea and sand wiches membees of the w l had busy day oh april 4th serving tea coffee sandwiches and pies at mr millers sale miss joan craig and mrs c wilson spent last week visiting near ottawa mrs wilson with mr and mrs floyd duncan and miss craig with mr and mrs robert butlough george henderson is home af ter a few days in georgetown hospital county championship done fellows ballinafad report active year at institute annual a busy year was reported when members of limehouse women s institute met for their annual meeting recently in the memorial hall mrs sam gisby presided it has been the w i custom to give a silver fork for each club girl completing two pro jects last year this was increas ed to one fork for each project the annual birthday party at halton manor was discussed limehouse will be in charge of the april party when 16 resl dents will be guesls the centennial project is the beautifying of the natural rock formation in front of the public school by making a planting of flowers and shrubs mrs frank brown sent a full report of the district directors meeting and plans for the distr ict annual in may and the area convention in the fall in her report she mentioned education night which had been helpful to many people and included talks hy principal eric balkind and mrs preston and mr jackson of stewarttown school visits to halton manor and gifts to shut ins were a trib ute to older people the w i contributed to the retarded children s association the mu sic festival and sponsored a teen club a hat making project was en joyed by all those who had at tended roll call was payment of fees and secretary treasurer mrs turner read reports showing a fair balance in the hank in her report mrs brown sa d service sums up our year s work looking ahead the rock ery will mean a lot of hard work but noth ng worthwhile complished w thout work and up to us to put our should ers to the wheel mrs jack- roughlcy took the chair for election of officers all were returned to office with the exception of the press reporter mm gisby and mrs r turn er served lunch however all things must of necessity change and we are sorry to report the departure of one of our most valued staff members shortly we are referring to our nursing dircc tor mrs mary manning who has accepted a position in a tor onto hospital given over to specialized treatment for some time mrs manning has evinced a desire to special ze in this particular field of her profes slon and aa an opening has presented itself she has taken it we are sure all the staff as well as board members regre her departure but join with us in wishing her every success in her new field of endeavour personally it is our belief that she has been responsibli for much improvement in the hospital in the past year and a half we see john schenk hard at work readying the grounds for spring and with the immense number of bulbs planted a gift of dominion seed incidentally i and mr schenk s diligent care we expect that the grounds will be even more of a beauty spot than usual although that in it self would be hard to imagine a first impression of any build ing is always most imoortant and we feel that in our casv the grounds in spring can only give a feeling of warmth and beauty our women s auxiliary sewn to be as busy as ever in their ef forts to help make the hospital more comfortable place for the patients speaking to one of their officers recently we are reminded that they are al ways on the lookout for mem bcrs so ladies here is your chance to become part of a vi 1 brant organization one that i you can t help but get a real satisfaction out of being part of ve usually manage to steal a look at the female member of the family
