high pitched mystery noise baffles women georgetown curator returns to the days of ike smithy major h j newman of georgetown curator of the holton county museum at kelso works at an old smithys anvil while his helper jim robertson operates a bellows on the forge in the background the equipment from another era is part of a restored blacksmith shop opened to the public at the museum last week built around 1880 by the late adam alexander the shop was in use until about 1940 since then it has been collecting dust and it took months of hard work to make it suitable to be visited by the public as well as the anvil bellows and forge the shop includes more than 250 blacksmith tools add senior day camp to this summers y program a sure sign of brighter days ahead and the fast approaching cummer holidays is the announ cement of plans for the day camp by the georgetown and district ymcaywca as of the 4th ofjfnly the local moms can rv jflodbye to johnny and satis three days a week and spend a few carefree hours to herself secure in the know ledge that the kids are well car ed for and having the time of their lives the y has been fortunate in acquiring mrs rita munro ag ain this year as camp dircn under her supervision day camp will be expanded to n de a junior and a senior camp as well as an extension to sue weeks instead of 4 as last year both camps will begin operation 1 lfonday july 4 and continue every monday wednesday nd friday until august 13 junior camp win be held at terra cotta conservation area and will have as assistant dir ector mrs terry colter mrs colter is very experienced in camp work and has assisted with t day camps in the past registration for this camp is limited to boys and girls of 6 to 10 years of age with a mail mum registration of 50 campers per week a child must have completed kindergarten before he or she will be accepted and registra- 1 ttion can be made for any part of or all of the six week period the junior camp fee is 200 per day and the young earner nnst bring his own lunch besides mrs munro and mrs i colter there will be 5 senior and 5 junior counsellors give excellent leadership and j supervision the personnel are ifjully trained in first aid proccd ivres and are holders of red lross swimming badges the program for the juniors lcovers all kinds of camp crafts t games physical fitness outdoor ijcooking conservation ind at least one period of water activ city and water safety instruction reach day swimming lessons as esuch are not given rather the f campers are prepared for form- eat swimming courses available at the the senior campers is one that should spell fun to every preteen attending there will be swimming water games crafts archery boating nature conservation pioneering building shelters etc and ev ery day that the weather allows the noon meal will be an outdoor cookout occasional overnight camping is planned as an added attraction the buses will leave at 9 a m under full supervision from gs television at the delrex plaza and the georgetown dai ry for terra cotta and wolf park and will return the weary travellers to the same locations around 4 pjn each day the day camp is operated by the georgetown and district ymca ywca as a service to the children of this area ah camp staff members and counsellors participate in an in tensive precamp program which is aimed at increasing their sensitivity towards child ren and camp philosophy and skills in working towards camp goals hospital admissions births well below normal in april there were fewer admissions fewer births fewer emergency visits and fewer patients at ge orgetown and distno memorial hospital in april than the prev ious month and april 1965 ac cording to figures released by the hospital this week births numbered 18 compared to 28
