minister of municlbal affair to release the plunkett report to- the counties before making it public the peel resolution noted the counties were sharing in the cost with the provincial govern 1 meiit on the preparation of the 1 sttaovon local government ii asked the minister to withhold any publication of the report until the county councils have had time to consider the report and its recommendations nissagaweya deputy reeve w hoey suggested the report was public when the county re ceived it since it couldn t be discussed without being made public he opposed any delay in the 63 000 report on local government in peel and halton has been in preparation for over a year and is expected to be handed to the minister of municipal affairs in late aug ust or early september huron bruce perth and grey counties who sponsored the expansion of the services into their districts among the special guests was w p watson ge ral manager of toronto s royal winter fair who was ontario livestock com missinner in the 1940s and hel ped the various groups to org anixe artificial insemination following the dinner he recall edmme of the difficulties invol i ved the association was establ s ed by a relatively small group he said in the early years it achieved some success but with many problems in the last twenty years it has expanded because of the excellence of its service mr watson traced the development or ontario from an agricultural to an industrial nation the kev to success for agriculture in the face of in creased food requirements is increased production and effici ency he felt we must develop more effi eient strains of livestock he said commenting that know ledge of ancestors or sires would not be enough but sires with performance information would more and more necessary following the dinner the guests moved on to wcba head quarters in waterloo to join in the breeding association s annu al open house more than 900 association members and their families gathered to see the bulls of the various breed and to hear the evening program guest speaker for this program was the well known cbc tv personality bob carbert mr carberts topic was what oth era think about our industry and he spoke of the farmers itn age which is created by the farmers themselves he com mented on the tractor demon strations being earned on across the province their position justifies deep concern and their actions cer tainly demonstrate the exasper ation and desperation they feel however at the same time i be lieve quite sincerely that at would be a tragedy for all con cerned if our governments were stampeded into some ill advised action because of the threat of inconveniences to the public or possible strike action mr carbert blasted farmers who have adopted the attitude that there is something holy about food producers agncul ture he said has gone through a wringing ou process that has left 200 000 less farmers in canada than there were 20 years association and was its manager for seventeen years glen resident lived in west for twenty years funeral service was held on saturday at the harold c mc- clure funeral home for oscar murrav amos 49 who died on julv 13 in peel memorial hos pital brampton a glen williams resident since 1959 mr amos was em ploved as a plumber and steam filter with h stansbury ud bra ma lea he was a member of maple
